a band insulted us, so...

This one is easy.Don't use you gigs to"spread the message" of whatever cause you champion. There are other arenas for that. You're at a gig to entertain, nothing more.So just leave it at that.People don't pay cover charges and buy drinks to hear messages about suicide and depression.

I hope you would admit that there can be more to music than entertainment. Perhaps you play your gigs only to entertain, but you shouldn't speak for all of us; I certainly don't play music only to entertain, and it doesn't sound like the OP does either. I think it's entirely reasonable for the OP to be offended. Teenagers are very open to influence, and music with a positive message might encourage some of them to look for positive solutions to depression and alienation. It's a serious message, and it wasn't right of the other band to weaken it. Saying that music should only be played for entertainment seems cynical and nihilistic to me.

Pissing on the other band's van? Sounds like rock & roll to me. :bassist:

ok, when we play teen centers we do spread our message because it is important. we dont play bars. and if we did, we'd just play and leave without trying to spread our message on stage.

We were booked for the gig because of what we stand for, thats what the gig CALLED for.

Honestly, I don't see it as anything more than a funny story, I don't see why you older folk are taking so much offense to it!

I wouldn't have peed on someones belongings, sneakily behind thier back when I was 14. Age has nothing to do with my comment about growing up. At least the guy that ragged on you did it right in front of you. I imagine the yellow streak that was flowing out of you begins at your neck and flows all the way down your back.

What you did is cowardly and backbiting. I wouldn't want any of my kids being "messaged to" by someone that condones cowardly revenge, and vandalism.

Whaaaaaaa, I got dissed in public so I did what a child would do to get revenge then proudly posted about it on a message board.

What a knob.

Yeah, I'm old, but still learning. Now I'd like to learn at which age people think it's cool to have someone piss on his vehicle. You pull a bonehead move like that, post it on the internet, and seem surprised that some people don't support your actions.

The difference in the two things is that the other band did what they did to your faces, and y'all pissed on their ride while they weren't around.

Since you're into messages, there's one in here somewhere.

Honestly, pretty lame. Your lucky the club owner didn't find out about peeing out back on that bands trailer, or you may have blown any good will you earned. Always take the high road and don't worry about what another band says.

Get some thick skin, really you both look like morons now.

Thick skin has nothing to do with it. I don't have to remain silent if I have something I want to say. I was trying to make it clear that it isn't cool to damage other peoples' property. If that makes me look like a moron in your eyes I don't care. And the most ridiculous part of this whole thing is that the people who peed on the van are in the band full of good samaritans with a positive message. If you can't see the chickensh!tness and hypocrisy in that you're a moron.

I suggest growing some thicker skin. You were there to play. You did that. Who cares what the next bands singer says? Maybe other people don't feel the same way as you about the subject, (any subject applies here), you get all bent out of shape? Man I quit worrying about what strangers think many years ago.
+1

Man... but of course your band felt 'bad' about that lowbrow insult.. but taking a whiz on their vehicle?? Can't see where thats a positive or correct response at all . . I think (IMO) that the insult could have been ignored just as easily.

I would have made a similar joke. Did you think that maybe they didn't mean it as an insult? Perhaps they were just trying to be funny.

You guys are just overly sensitive d-bags.
As are most "message" bands. They all need to be taken out back by Angus and Malcolm Young and taught a lesson in having fun.

"We'd like to dedicate this next song to the band that played before us, because they're very serious about suicide and all that. I'm also very serious about suicide, because I once killed myself."

How can you say that's not absolutley hilarious??? Pissing on their car for saying that about "Your Message" is equally hilarious! Where & when is the next gig...I gotta be there!
