As to the topic at hand...
Pretty much the only basses I wouldn't play are ones with some sort of message I don't support displayed on them. Like if it had "heil Hitler" painted on it or something like that.
There are lots of basses I wouldn't buy, but there aren't many that I wouldn't at least try out and play a few riffs on.
