A Cold Day in Hell

Good call! Sometimes it’s hard to catch ourselves in time when we’re gassing for something. It’s so easy to buy the “wrong” thing and still have just as much GAS, or maybe even more, but less money and more stuff to get rid of. This way you’ll be more prepared if something you do have to have comes up.

I was looking at my receipt, I may not be able to get a refund. If cannot, I may get that T-40 they have because I could probably flip it pretty or easy or I may get this bass since it is something I always wanted but never seriously thought about buying:

Love the ”Old School”. If you don’t have one of those I’d look at that hard for a new horse in the stable.

I played that Spectorcore I have on layaway again, and I have come to the conclusion that I don’t want it. I like my fretless Yamaha with the EMG split pickup better. I could buy something else, but I think I will just get a refund, if the store charges me a restocking fee, cool. It’s funny, I was at GC and checked out a bunch of stuff, including a nice Sandberg, and I don’t want anything. My Geddy, Yamaha, and other basses work just fine for me, I am going to keep my money in my pocket.
Good Doctor,
Watching some of your latest video posts and started thinking, You must`ve tried about every bass known to mankind and I am very curious as to how many you currently own. I respect the detail in which you video your experience trying new basses (very helpful & insightful) and if we ever get through this travel ban, I`m gonna head to St. Louie, find the shop you hang out at (something tells me it isn`t a shop at all and it`s really your house:D), and enjoy the experience.

Honestly I have been fine with one main bass, then with two for many years. But (thanks to TB) the build your own bug hit me and now I have several more basses with three more on the bench waiting for certain parts. Funny thing is that my second build (almost stock MIM buttercream fretless) has become my favorite over my original work horses, early Telecaster and '77 Jazz!

I tend not to own many basses at any particular time. I just enjoy checking out basses.

You sound great on that thing. I have the CIJ Fender Sting version of that bass and I can tell you it’s a gigging machine. Sits so well in the mix. Mine wears flats which work really well because there is a little more high end with that single coil than there is on the standard P bass split coil. It’s a very distinct sound and if you don’t already have a single coil P bass, it’s nice to have that in your stable.

I think that's the right move. Ive never liked the tone of those Hz pickups, and while those import Spector models are by no means bad, they don't really shine either (IMHO). You've got way nicer horses in the stable already.

IDK, how many times I Gassed hard for a bass, waited for the perfect one to list on ebay , back in its hey day! then to Finally get said bass & to kind think "what was the BFD"Like its been said "Tone is in your hands" its an expensive way to find that out,Not all, but most of my acquisitions(10+) have not been the "Holy grail" I was hoping for! "they all sound like me on whatever" there have been some that have sounded really different, but always felt a little let down from my expectations! Except for my rebuilds/Builds which have been taylor made to my tastes, so IMO those are Great basses of course! So ,in a sense Warmoth builds have cured my gas attacks.
