A Little Roscoe Fun

Just got my Century Standard Plus 5 - all I can say is wow! Just starting to explore the range of tones from the pre-amp - the push pull mid control opens up lots of tonal possibilities. The playability of this bass is off the hook - really low action, the neck profile is super comfy, easy to play. Here's a pic from the Roscoe facebook page:

That's a great looking bass. Congrats.

GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZ I wish I had some of your guys money... A $200 gig bag... yikes :help: Of course a $3000 bass doesnt need to be cheated out on but my goodness .

I used to think that as well until I bought multiple cheap bags that broke. I then did the math and figured I'd try out
a quality bag thinking it might save money in the end. Got a mono bag and glad I did. It's very sturdy and water proof.

I'll swear by the mono stuff now. I even use one of their backpacks for work. One day I rode my bicycle home from work(4 miles) in the rain. The mono backpack had papers, clothing, etc and NOTHING got wet. I was really impressed.

I find it to be worth it but I completely understand why others would think otherwise.

I never could figure out someone spending multiple thousands on a bass, and then skimping on the bag:smug: You often 'get what you pay for'.

The best budget bag BY FAR is the Pro Tec Contego. Really nice bag, decent protection, great pocket space, lightweight. Probably the best bang for the buck (a bit over $100). If you don't need the uber quality and protection of the Reunion Blues, that is the next best thing.

PS I have a 'new, virtually unused' Roscoe gig bag (nice quality 'soft' bag). If you are interested in it, PM me (assuming you are in the US) and I'll give you (or anyone else) a nice deal. I thought it would work for me (very nice bag that I got from Greg), and it is nice, but I am just more comfortable with the hybrid designs.

I used a Contego for a long time - wore it out. Great bag.
I use the Roscoe bag now. Great bag if you are just carrying the bag yourself and don't toss it in the band van or whatever.

Yummmmm - I just grabbed that 6-String PJ Century Standard Plus bass that was at NAMM.

Ash body
Quilted Maple top
Maple board
Tobacco Burst finish
Aguilar PJ pickups
Chrome HW*

* at my request, Roscoe is going to change the black knobs to chrome before the bass gets here. I almost went all black with the hardware, but I have a guy interested in the bass and he preferred chrome. So chrome it is!!

I've had quite a few new Roscoes arrive already this week... including a pair of guitars!

I posted this first one on my site last night, and it just sold this morning (thanks, Dave!). Why don't all my basses move that quickly?!? :rollno::D

This next bad boy was a walk-in. Gard came for a visit to tempt us with guitars, and he "accidentally" loaded this one into his car before departing Greensboro. Who was I to resist?!? Man, it's gorgeous!

And the real reason for Gard's visit was these next two bad boys. Tell your guitar player buddies, Keith is back at making guitars!
