That's what I thought. I'll just leave it on 4 ohms, and tell people that ask that if I tell them what it does, I will have to kill them.

An amplifier rated at 4 Ohms will, most often, operate without apparent ill-effect at a lower load than it is rated for, but ratings are there for a reason and if you damage your amplifier by running the wrong load, your warranty is null and void. I don't thing AG is going to cover your amplifier repair bill because of a null and void warranty.

Oddly enough, on a side note, I use a Yorkville A4.4 power amp, and i could run a 1/2 ohm load full power in the sun in July, blow it up, and it's still under warranty. They offer a full 2 year unlimited warranty. Might be the best amp to test the switch.

Yorkville has an incredible warranty policy. 2 year - no fault. I think the switch has already been tested though so I don't really see the point in risking damaging your poweramp because you have a no-fault warranty. Who knows - It could handle it and shorten the life of the amplifier (most likely at two years and one day if you have the same luck as I do :)) or maybe it could seem fine for a while and then blow on a gig. No replacement is going to make that OK IMO.

If players want to insure what Ohm rating they should run their "Accuswitch" equipped cabs at to insure that the warranty on their amps is not null and void - Obviously the amp maker is the ONLY relevant judge and jury on this one. Technically - if it's been run at an incorrect load already - it's possible - even likely - that the manufacturer could refuse service depending on what's stated in the warantee.

It seems like Dave at Thunderfunk WILL warantee his amps based upon the "Acuuswitch" Ohm rating though although he states above that he's never tested the switch.

it is a 4 Ohm cab and should only be run as such
If you search through the threads you'll find Petebass measured it and found the actual impedance is 6 ohms. A pair in parallel would come in at 3 ohms, not 2, explaining why there have not been more reports of blown amps.
What does the switch do, if anything, and what effect does it have on the cab, and my amp, if any
It takes a capacitor in and out of circuit with one woofer. This changes the DC resistance of the cabinet, but has no effect upon the impedance within the frequency range of the electric bass. From the amp's standpoint it does nothing. In layman's terms:Snakeoil.

Actually, almost all stated 4 ohm cab are really 6 ohms in measurement. I actually read this in Bass Player a few years back. Another wierd thing.
It depends where you measure, impedance varies with frequency. The rated impedance is therefore and average figure. Usually above 150 Hz or so the impedance does drop down to the rated value.

Moo who cares what others have said on the threads.
For a while you pretended too, I thought it was a lie and now I know it was. Can't you people find something else to make an idol out of?
This thread has been beating a dead horse. I got better things to do and going to stay out of this thread.
I'm betting there are already more posts from you in this thread. The I'm taking my ball and leaving threat usually means I have nothing to say but will continue to say it.

1) If you are that out of touch with the electronics principles involves in the Accuswitch controversy how the hell did you ever make an amp?
It's not like it's his design, it's an old defunct amp with mods and a marketing campaign. Kinda like making a pseudo 4way cab and claiming god himself has given you this new design that is already on the market elsewhere

I have never said the AccuSwitch works. I have not tested it.
Earlier you claimed it works and said you'd stake your reputation on it and made a super convoluted warranty to try to convince people of your rant.

So, make the statement, does it work? Your personal attacks seem out of place if you're not even wiling to restate your earlier claim that it absolutely does.
But the nay-sayers should be aware they are committing libel. To say that the switch doesn't work because they read it in a magazine is not a defense. That's hearsay. They don't have first hand evidence from THEIR OWN testing. When they're sued for what they've posted here, it might dawn on them that they're playing fast and loose with the evidence. That's all I'm saying.
Your threats are pathetic and childish. The switch is clearly a fraud! IMHO. You've tried every crybaby internet tactic except to call us nazis and hitler, is that next? And if you would follow your own advice you'd keep your mouth shut until you have completed YOUR OWN testing. You don't want to be sued for libel do you? :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

I sincerely hope your future business will reflect your people skills and your amp company will go the way of the company who's designs you're using.

That was a very limited warranty that requires pre registering, Dave has made it clear he will not offer this warranty to just anyone using an Accugroove & TF.

Wow!

Its certainly your right to disagree with whomever you please, but is it really neccesary to tell someone you sincerely hope their company goes out of business? That seems a little raw. And more than a tad spiteful.

But hey, thats me. You roll how you like:hmm:

It's not libel unless you knowingly, and with malice, make false accusations. It's not libel if you have evidence to support your claims or good reason to believe your claims are true. It's ridiculous to say otherwise. I believe the switch does not work as advertised--that's not libel, it's a statement of fact. That is, it's a fact that I believe the switch is fake, and I believe it because I have seen a lot of convincing evidence.

There is no possibility of libel in this thread. You have to know the accusation is false, and there has to be demonstrable malice. Neither is in evidcence here. The state, when prosecuting a suspected urderer, has malice, but it has evidence, so it's not libel, even if the suspect is found innocent.

To split a few semantic hairs, you can still sue for defamation of character even if the statements are true if you can prove the intent was to defame. A separate charge from libel of course. England has a flipped version of our rules also. But yeah, threatening libel on the net is like telling mommy you're going to hold your breath, it's desperate and it doesn't work :)

In practice though suing for libel or threatening to for opinions on the net is defamation of character and the countersuit could destroy any company that tries it. And that could be construed as a veiled & cowardly counterthreat :ninja:

You can sue for anything, but you can't WIN unless you have some grounds. If I say that X is a liar, based on my experience, he can sue me, but he can't win, unless he can show that I was knowlingly maikng false charges for malicious reasons. No one can be sued for sincerely held personal beliefs--that's the point of freedom of speech. England and the Us have different interpretations of libel, and in the US, libel is extremely hard to prove

Absolutely.

In reality it is just an empty threat made in desperation, they would have to prove damages and the switch works. I had a company try this on another board and I dared them to go through with it. They tucked tail and fired the guy who pushed it :)

But we digress. The switch as currently advertised is a fraud! Anyone have anything that says otherwise besides calling people naysayers and haters? Maybe a famous amp maker can release the impedance sweeps he's done?
