Acoustic USA News

Easy fix. Don't start pimping a product in 2008 and release it in 2010. That's not ballbusting for tardiness. GK gets that. That's ballbusting for consistent "it's right around the corner" promises for 2 years. There was also a fair number of people whose posting history began and ended with their gushing about a product that few to nobody had seen. The whole scenario just doesn't inspire confidence in the product or any news of it.

Honestly, I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that you're looking at one was a huge undertaking inspired by a single man's vision. I don't know how much research in product development George and Co. did, but I don't think they ever anticipated the number of roadblocks and delays they would hit between design, safety approval and production.

Maybe George's biggest mistake in the whole thing was not hiring a marketing team before he hooked up with the engineers, haha.

I do agree with JimmyM though...unless you've been saving up for this product for the last two years, is it really that big of a deal?

I think that goes for most of the companies that have flared up on this website in my time here, yet, this has probably been the rockiest "start" I've witnessed.

Like other vaporware (yes, I know this is about to be released, but...) people bitch when they pass on other opportunities or try to wait it out based on the manufacturer's estimates. GK has caught a bunch of crap for this in the past here.

Save for two years? Some might. I've bought 2 amps and 4 cabinets in the time since the initial thread was posted and that's probably nothing compared to others here. I buy products that are available from people I trust. Based on that criteria and the last two years of announcements, I won't be in the market for the new amp. Is it that big of a deal? No, but people are still going to talk about it because there was an effort to polish every aspect of this product's delayed release. Don't brag unless you can back it up, Lord knows the supporters of this endeavor won't be quiet about the "I told you so's" for another 2 years if even one is sold.

You dont need a marketing team if you have product and that product is great.. all you need is one guy to have it and talk about it on talkbass and you have your marketing team..
I work with folks that were able to do that right here on TB... and they did a huge undertaking , machinery, relocation, tooling , patents, workforce ... and there is NO marketing team.. one guy on TB..
Marketing teams are a thing of the past for many products these days.

Can we have a photo of the product? That we would pay our money for. Is that finally possible?

Not in stores...correct.

But available for order? You bet...

If you're interested, give George a call and talk it over! I do NOT know the price points, but a call will help you out!

It has been a long time in coming, but he can finally sell them!

Can yo post a few photos of your rig so we can see what these things look like?

I think there are many of us who would love to know the answer to that one...360/361 price. I myself could not pass up the B600H though, it's awesome! I'm sure I'll have a major GAS relapse when the 360/361 USA Acoustic does hit the streets, I don't know the "when" on that one either. My advice would be don't go and try out the B600H and wait (hopefully you are not in immediate need for a awesome bass amp) because if you do try it out, my guess is that you will buy it like I did.:D

Play On!:bassist:

:D:D:D:D Thank you Jimmy..
It took me a minute to do some division with your house and the ESB math...
lol

if you mean a single story as opposed to a cattle farm, yes ;)

yep, a singer i work with's aunt got a house built for her near where i live now. people gathered out there just to watch them put it up. big event when it happened. good free entertainment.

by the time they get down here, they're all used up and they don't move at nearly the same speed :D

i don't think george could keep quiet about it even if he signed a written agreement not to talk about it. he's just that kind of guy. i have always been quite amused by what he says and always got a kick out of it. i guess i understand consumer frustration over missed deadlines, but since i'm not an investor, it doesn't make me mad or anything. maybe i'm getting old...i seem to be losing my edge ;)

I had a price list and catalog of the products about a year ago (when I was on the endorser list). Unfortunately, I recently moved from the East to the West Coast and misplaced them. After I chose to go with Ampeg, I sort of quit looking.

If you go to the "unofficial acoustic" site, there are several pics of guys playing the products...that's the best I can do for you..

I agree that George (IMO) went about this Bass-Ackwards, but that's George. I wish him the best and hope that his vision becomes a huge success!

To Avoid confusion to the product they should change the name.. the story is already so convoluted with all the HYPE for so long about they product that never was... :rollno:yet........

From a marketing standpoint I would think they would change the name and look somewhat.. But they do everything else backwards so far, so why change now..:rollno::rollno:
I mean this thread is only 2 years old now with amps coming "any day now"..

This thread is like a bad chain-letter.

well this is the Acoustic USA thread.. Which is about the New super top secret acoustic line right?
So when someone says they have a new acoustic amp .. you want to see photos right? :rollno::rollno:
not knowing they are going to point you to a product that is completely different.
Im not the only one that thinks they should change the name. Way to confusing and will lose market share due to the confusion,''

You asked for pictures of his rig, which was the B600H setup ;)

There is another product that was just announced. I would expect pictures to be forthcoming.

I think you just got excited and didn't actually read his post. No shame in that. :)

I don't know that the two companies using the same branding is going to affect market share that much. The people that follow the brand are going to know the difference right away. The people that don't will figure it out. As long as the entire lineup is solid (from the import models all the way up to the domestic line), I think it becomes a win-win for the brand name.

The look is going to be different from the imported line, because the domestic line (AFAIK) is going to use the classic Acoustic Gen 1 color scheme, which should definitely set it apart from the rest of the line (though the B810 cab sort of leans towards the Gen 1 scheme). I would also assume that the numbering scheme is going to be totally different from the imported line.

The release order is a little backwards, I admit. Most companies roll out their high-end stuff before going for the budget audience. However, I don't know that having low-end stuff necessarily hurts brand name as long as it's solid. I'm sure there's people that can't tell the difference between the Ampeg BA series and the SVT series, but there's also plenty of us that know what we're looking at to make it worth their while.

The "Acoustic USA" and the "GC Acoustic" are 2 completely different animals.

"Acoustic USA" are modeled after the much famed Acoustic Control Corporation amps and cabs that came out in the late 60s - early 70s and continued through the 80s.

The "GC Acoustic" amps and cabs are Guitar Center specific products that are offered exclusively through GC (MF).

The price points of the "Acoustic USA" are vastly different (higher) that their GC counterparts. I DO NOT know the exact pricing on "Acoustic USA", but as I understand it, the new 360/361 is "in the area" of $5,000. Remember, though, that there are a variety of other amp/cab combinations that they offer as well.

The "360/361" is obviously the flagship of their product line-up. Is it "high"? you bet! Will it be a BIG seller? No clue.

I have heard it said that it will be "mainly purchased by old guys who remember the originals and will purchase one to re-live the glory days..."

Time will tell....I hope to see George and his amps at the next NAMM and look forward to seeing the reviews in upcoming issues of Bass Player magazines....I'm also anxious to see how the general bass playing public takes to these beasts and whether or not they will live up to the hype!

If Bass Gear Magazine isn't testing production line gear, where they buy the gear independently, then shame on them.
It's not consumer focused reporting if they get special built and tweaked gear from the manufacturers to review.

We don't test "tweaked" gear. In fact, it has happened in the past that the unit that was sent to us is slightly different from the current production unit (sometimes, we get a "pre-production" model). In these situations, we have requested replacement units to test that are 100% representative of the "off the shelf" units.

I do recognize your concerns, though, and I would agree that independent, empirical testing would be of very little value if the thing being tested were not 100% representative of the thing being sold to the end users.
