Has it been 3 months since the last thread? :hiding:

They must have been so good that UL employees risks their careers and stole them all.
You can't trust government science based testing or their employees. :ninja:

I've may just be guessing, but I think they're going for a "NOS" type approach. They'll be out in 20 years, they'll be "new", but old stock. :D

Somehow this appeal to authority that they have some bass amp legion designing new old style amps just doesn't seem to actually deliver. I guess we'll eventually see. (Insert picture of skeleton playing bass through a new looking Acoustic Control amp)

Comparably, I'd be willing to bet that the Model T was a much simpler design than this too.

That being said, the new Acoustics are supposed to be reviewed in an upcoming issue of Bass Gear.

Also, as of July 10th, testing is done for the US, Canada and Europe. Apparently the biggest issue now is sourcing the parts. To quote Geroge, "There's over 531 parts in the new 360/361. Very cool. Lead times on parts is a nightmare. Many parts come from off shore. Not my fault. Also, many parts are custom made." Additionally, "Oh, yeah. GC has to sign off."

So yeah...things have been quiet here at TB, because George posts on the Acoustic Control forum, not here.

Let's all wait for the next thread in three months - when they're still not out.

If Bass Gear Magazine isn't testing production line gear, where they buy the gear independently, then shame on them.
It's not consumer focused reporting if they get special built and tweaked gear from the manufacturers to review.

I wouldn't crucify Bass Gear Magazine just yet. All he said was that they were supposed to review them in the future. I'm betting I could PM Tombowlus right now, tell him I was re-releasing (fill in the blank famous vintage product) and he would agree to consider reviewing it when it was released.

I am not bagging on George....I just wish that something would happen. I was extremely interested in GPG Acoustic (I was to be an endorser) but had to walk after waiting for over a year and a half. I decided to go with the new Ampeg line (Heritage) and am damn glad that I did.

No, I want to see George bring these amps to market, but absolutely do not understand the hold up(s). And, my MAJOR concern will be how he plans to get GC (who owns the brand) to sign off on the whole deal.

I have, and continue, to wish George the very best. I have had the pleasure of speaking with George on numerous occasions - he's a great guy and has an absolute passion for these products. Unfortunately, until the products are brought to market, the speculation will continue.

But it might be worth mentioning, the old addage most definitely applies here that "There's no such thing as bad publicity".....

Since the US economy tanked sourcing electronic parts has been tough. At worked we've been told very long lead times on electronic parts (no one wants to keep parts on the shelf). It's going to be awhile before they get back to normal lead times.

That said, this wasn't an issue two years ago but I have no idea what it takes to manufacture amplifiers.

The Empire State Building was built from ground breaking to topping it off in 13 months..:eek::eek:

i guess that's the difference between 100 years ago and today. my house took 5 months to go up from initial down payment to closing. now if you take that on a floor by floor basis compared to the esb, it should have been done in 4 days ;)

oh well, you know how it goes...when stuff comes out, the ballbusting will stop. been a long wait but people will forget about it. can't say george ever did me any wrong by taking a long time. i'll tell you though...the pressure's on. never seen such a bloodthirsty horde as talkbass when a product doesn't come out quick enough!

So you live in a ranch ? :)


You must have seen that show on TV.. the one where they make a new home for people in need.. they send them on a vacation for a few days... Then they wreck the old house to the ground.. haul it off and all the neighbors build from ground up with all the Thanksgiving trimming in a weekend..

At this point its just fun talking about it.. Hey why don't they just change the name of the product form Acoustic all together.. and just name it something else People will catch on fast enough.

Someone said they have a product out real soon... Are they going to be at NAMM ?

yep, a singer i work with's aunt got a house built for her near where i live now. people gathered out there just to watch them put it up. big event when it happened. good free entertainment.

i don't think george could keep quiet about it even if he signed a written agreement not to talk about it. he's just that kind of guy. i have always been quite amused by what he says and always got a kick out of it. i guess i understand consumer frustration over missed deadlines, but since i'm not an investor, it doesn't make me mad or anything. maybe i'm getting old...i seem to be losing my edge ;)

Easy fix. Don't start pimping a product in 2008 and release it in 2010. That's not ballbusting for tardiness. GK gets that. That's ballbusting for consistent "it's right around the corner" promises for 2 years. There was also a fair number of people whose posting history began and ended with their gushing about a product that few to nobody had seen. The whole scenario just doesn't inspire confidence in the product or any news of it.
