First, I think most of the recent popular music is horrible, effect layered garbage. But that’s just me. Second, and I guess I’m in the minority opinion here, but I think Adam’s bass looks like crap. I wouldn’t take one for free.

Oh goody...more whining from old folks about new music. Well done, kids at the Grammys! Screw the old folks! Make music for yourselves!
I agree, and I'm old. It's the same argument every year about how music nowadays sucks. Blah, blah, blah.
And I'm waiting for someone to chime in with how it would've been better with a Sire bass!
the best part about any kind of music is no one can make you listen to it. don't like it? turn if off or leave.

I didn't see anything that made me say "wow" but that probably has to do with being so accessible to artists and their performances throughout the year. I live in a small town so back in the old days all we had were records and fluff pieces in the magazines so the Grammy's were a big deal getting to actually see your stars and here some of them perform was really special. I'll be glad when all of the award shows go back to being fun and not so political they used to be a nice relief.

I like U2's albums from Boy up to Rattle and Hum best, and certain isolated singles thereafter.
It definitely looked like at least Larry and Adam were not playing live and yes, they were probably freezing.
Adam may not be the most technically proficient bassist ever but he gets the job done and has very good groove/feel, IMO.

Couldn't make out one thing Kendrick Lamar was rapping about but I got the message.
Pink was great. Even though they are both pop/rock stars, whenever I see Gaga she seems so inauthentic (not to mention blatantly derivative and overwrought) while Pink seems like the real deal.

They all looked like they were thinking "I'm too old to be playing to no one on a friggin' barge in the middle of the river in the freezing cold." And the Edge had no pedals anywhere to be seen so either he had a guitar tech behind the screen controlling his pedals because the fx kept changing or they were lip syncing.
I mean if they didn't do this promo (of a kinda weak simple tune) would they have trouble selling stadium tickets this summer?

In fact, it was one of the warmest days we’ve had all January...near 50’s. Certainly not anywhere near 30 degrees, even on the river.
