Adam Clayton Grammys

I thought Sting was cool. I could hear him and he looked good rockin’ his Precision through the SVT.

It did not look warm to me. Adam had gloves with just the fingertips cut off. I felt sorry for him for a few seconds, but then I remembered he's making the big bucks....
His bass playing was fine.
I felt his voice was really weak. It's not his fault, he's just old now.

Some people can't cope with the cold too effectively. Especially since a musical performance requires layers of clothing to be shed for entertainment factor. I get ya, I've spent entire nights in a hole in the ground wishing I'd make it through with neither hypothermia nor frozen toes and come out the other end fighting like a wild animal. But not everybody knows they can do that stuff.
Also, being on or near the water would feel a lot colder.
Get Out of Your Own Way is certainly not a great U2 song. They have many great songs but this was not one of them IMO.

I love Adam Clayton!! Don't love the Grammy's so much...
I've liked him for years, ever since I picked up a copy of Boy sometime in the early 80s.
I think the bass was all keys, but the tune sounded great and Bruno kicked some incredible dance moves. I'm not really into that kind of thing but I can tell good when I see it.
Here's my beef. And I don't have a beef with U2. U2 and Sting weren't nominated for anything, and yet, the two of them performed and Sting even had a skit. U2 did appear in Kendrick Lamar's performance (Bono and Edge). U2 does appear on Kendrick's new album for a track. Kendrick also appears on U2's new album. So I at least understand that appearance.... But really, neither U2 nor Sting were nominated for squat.
.... not my cup of tea... but Lorde (who was nominated for best album) didn't perform....and rumour is she decided to turn down the whole mess of the Grammys. Anyway, I'm a school teacher to elementary kids, so I'm surrounded by "pop" music and always turn into the Grammys to keep my ear to the ground of what the cool kids are listening to.
No. The Grammys aren't for everyone. I guess I just refuse to not be in the know to what the public is listening to these days.
And seriously. You can't take pop music seriously. Rock and hip-hop I takes seriously (like the angst or the message). Pop music is just ear candy.....even if it isn't YOUR ear candy.
Wipe the scowl off your face and enjoy music....

Lorde turned down the Grammys because they would only let her perform a little bit in the Petty tribute and wouldn't let her do her latest song, unlike all the other Record of the Year nominees, who were all guys. I couldn't give two craps about Lorde, but that's messed up.
One thing that’s cool about U2 is that while none of the guys in the band is a virtuoso, the songwriting and the compelling performances are what makes them stand out. They have a distinctive sound.
Lucky he has so many other basses and sponsors. It will be interesting to see how much he uses that purple bass in the future. It looks very blingy.
