After some long lasting nickels

Hi , as per the thread title i am after some long lasting nickels,i am currently using fender 7150 but 3 weeks in and i am not thrilled with the broken in tone of these ,what are some long lasting nickel strings, thanks

P.s fwiw Ernie ball,Rotosound and Daddario's are easily available to me

Definitely long lasting. But they come out of the package with a pretty "broken-in tone," IMO, so I'm not sure they'd suit the O.P.

Also, O.P., you say nickels--by that, do you mean uncoated rounds like the 7150's? The Dunlop Nickel Super Brights might suit you. They come a little hot out of the box (again, IMHO), but after about a week or so they settle into a nice warm but fairly punchy tone that lasts for a long time. Months for me, but I'm not currently gigging out.

If you'll do a search, you'll find there is a lot of love here for the TI Jazz Rounds--they're a little pricey for me, but they supposedly give great tone for a long, long time.

Yes uncoated rounds , the 7150s sounded good initially but now they are broken in they have none of the initial growl ,they sound too smooth and sound kind of scooped, i have heard mixed reviews of coated strings and they are too expensive to take a chance on

I've had Ernie Ball Slinky's on a few basses when I bought them and tried them on a few others others and I was surprised by how quickly they became uselessly dead - and I like broken in round wounds! Never tried Rotosounds and the only D'Addario's I've tried are Chromes (flats).

I've gotten great life out of nickel DR Lo Riders. They're also the only string I've tried that has sounded fantastic on whatever bass I put them on, especially once they break in. Clear highs without being harsh and strong warm low mids. Some other nickel strings I've liked a lot and gotten good life out of are Dean Markley Helix's, which might have been discontinued (?), and Ken Smith Burners

I'm bought a couple sets from Circle K before they became Kalium. I bought nickels but I see on the Kalium website either you get steels or hybrids. Someone here wrote that the hybrids are a nickel steel alloy. All I know is nickels are way easier on my fret wires than steels are.

Most nickels are actually nickel-plated steel wire in the winding. TIs, Fender 7150s, and a few others are nickel or nickel alloy wire in the winding.

Elixir strings are probably the best strings you'll be able to get on the market that last a long time. Not sure about your situation, but even my local GC (one of the smallest in the country) carries elixir. They're a bit pricier, but they're worth it in the long run.

I'm not aware of any roundwound that's not going to loose some of that zing and some highs after a few weeks of regular playing.

Longest lasting nickle strings are probably steel, such as Dean Markley Blue Steels. Long lasting and warm sounding. They will last. Life is full of compromises.

I've had good luck with SIT power wounds - cheap, good sounding, and pretty long lasting.

I've never heard of Kalium strings. Are they widely available or a specialty/botique brand?

They were formerly known as Circle-K strings, same owners though. They are an on-line/internet sale place, not really "boutique", but amazing choice of gauges. They are very knowledgable about string construction and offer balanced tension sets. Prices are quite reasonable and their customer service is excellent.

Marketing jargon. 99% of the nickel strings you see are 'nickel-steel hybrid'.
