Again, Fender being overrated BS

A quick update. I just stopped in my local GC for strings and after reading this had to check the Fenders out. Out of 9 MIA P-Basses 2 had a gap in the neck pocket. Nothing major but still there. The 5 MIM P-Basses, only 1 had a gap but 2 absolutely had stress cracks in the paint at the bass of the neck pocket. I did not play any of them, but I still would have boughtany one of them had it been the "one".
Some room on the side of neck pockets seems to be normal. And many actual vintage instruments have it, too. I don't like it either but it doesn't seem to be much of a factor for sound or stability.
Can you be more specific what you mean when you say "different neck relief on both sides"? It doesn't sound like you are saying the neck is twisted (nut not parallel with body surface) but that there is a depression in the fretboard on one side?

I bought my Fender and Music Man sight unseen. I must've won the lottery, cause both are among the best constructed basses I've ever owned or played. Perfectly tight neck joints, straight necks, superb low action, everything lines up exactly as it should... Even and articulate tone all the way up and down the neck, with B-strings on par with even the best 35" basses I've owned (Spector, Roscoe).
I once played a few Sadowsky Metro's at a bass shop in Arizona. The frets were hanging off the sides of the neck, the actions were super high, things didn't line up 100%, etc. Obviously, I should conclude that ALL Sadowsky's are piles of poo cause every one I tried had what the OP considers to be fatal flaws.

I don't understand all the hostility towards the OP. People don't have the same response to threads that profess a dislike for other brands, so why get up in arms when it's Fender? Personally, I've only had good experiences with Fender, but I've only played a few. You lot are acting like he's insulted you personally and are saying he needs to chill out, when his post is relatively mild, and you guys are the ones that need to chill out.
Janek Gwizdala was here recently for a clinic, and some old guy asked him what he thought of Fender, in an accusatory response to his Fodera. It's so pathetic. They can be great instruments, but Fender nuts are almost as bad as Harley nuts.

But, this is a totally new rant! While up front it looks like every other "Fender sucks" rant this is actually different! In what way I can't say, but I'm sure there's a difference in there somewhere.
One mans trash is another mans treasure. I hate rap, country, pediphile pop, techno, dub step, but people listen to them and like them.
I'll never understand this "I've tried X# of this brand and I didn't like them so every one of them is garbage." attitude.

I don't think the objection here is due to it being Fender that's being bashed. I think it's that this premise is over-done with so many brands here on TB.
I play live music three times a week on average and rotate through about six brands and a couple of boutiques and parts basses. So I'm no Fender fanboi.
I recall other threads where brand-bashing was specifically targeted and discouraged by moderators. It only causes trouble.
Fender stuff, just like a bunch other brands, is indeed overpriced, by far, since we're being sold more than anything, a name, the quality is another whole story, let's discuss that please:
I don't think that the price/quality ratio is rational, but is not insane either, so, you do actually get what you're paying for? The building is close to flawless, the design is ageless, and the sound, well the sound is quality sound, and I'm not saing that as a fanboy, Fender equipment is pretty much standard equipment: no fanned fret designs, standard bridges and tuning machines in most of their models, no fretless necks, neither +21 frets and no exotic woods, but still, they are quality products.
So, again, are you getting what you paid for? No, but are they quality products? Yes they are, I wouldn't mind paying +500 dollars for something that's going to give me hours of cool sounds and (please admit it) great playability and comfort!

As a Fender P-bass owner this new information is depressing. Gappy pockets, twisted necks, humming pickups. I thought I really liked my bass, guess I was wrong. Anyone got some suggestions for a good quality bass guitar? Something I would enjoy playing!
