I have no basis in fact here but I'm just going to take stab here and suggest that there bassists than using one cab as opposed to multiple cabs. It seem like there a lot of 4 ohm cabs on the market rated at 500-600 watts. A 350 watt head might under shoot the mark, and where a 700 watt amp powering a 500-600 watt is not recommended. That might be the reason for the 500 watt cab.

That said, with the cabs I have the 700 is poor match.

Well, two SL110 cabs appear to be a perfect match for the TH350. Why make a 175 RMS cab when all of Aguilar's amps will overpower it? The TH350 and one or two SL110 cabs are the perfect mini rig. Or maybe KORG has forgotten about the player that doesn't need big rigs. There are many people clamouring for small combos and small separates.

Right? The TH350/SL110 would have made a great combo. Add another SL110 for a great little mini stack.

For what it’s worth, and probably not much, I prefer the tone of my AG700 a bit more with the SL110 cabs vs the TH350 LTD I own and I have no fears about overpowering my little cabs. Perhaps it’s the different preamp but I think the extra headroom helps.

The most interesting thing so far (to me):

Not a big deal, but my amps are on more at home than on a stage these days.
The Aggie fans don't bother me in my larger / main music room, but I use the Genzler & Bergantino in my upstairs office/practice room because they are pretty much silent, which I have really come to appreciate as I spend more time in that room these days.

As for the IR, wondering why they didn't just offer it in a pedal form like the SGT.
I guess I'm in no hurry to replace my TH & AG amps....

I’m talking amps and cabs in general regardless of manufacturer. Ok, so you got two instances that will work safely. Congrats. The post I was responding to addressed the necessity of the 500 watt head. I stand on what said as that will apply to a lot more players than your two examples in general terms..

My TH350 drives my SWR GIII 4 ohms (750W) to insane speeds. 350 "Aguilar" watts will not under shoot any cab in the market, IME. Ampeg SVT with fridge is another common example.

I'm happy with my Tone Hammer Pedal and Tone Hammer 500 head. If either die I'm honesty not sure what route I'd go post Korg buyout though. Not digging all the customer service complaints.

Listening to the demos, my preferences for Aguilar from best to worst seems to be :

Tone hammer
New AG series

If you own them, I believe you. Maybe the added low end the AG700 delivers or it's more neutral tone are what is working but I'd be careful with all that power. I'm sure you know.

Yep, I thought the 500 should have been placed on the chopping block and the 350 kept along with the 700.

I'm also of this opinion. the 500 is too close to the 700 in wattage and price. I've been dying to have a TH350, as my TH500 has always been too much amp for the gigs I play.

Yep, I had a TH500. Couldn't bond with it and sold it. A while later I bought a TH350 and for whatever reason I prefer it. Quieter fan, still powerful, smaller format etc.

I think the old versions look much better than the new releases. I guess the font on the AG500 would probably have looked okay in the early '80s...
