Alibaba Bass

Done, and sheilding touched up. Now, time to throw it all in there

As it turns out, the main problem wasn't the routes. It was the clear coat building up on the edges of the routes. I just took a tiny bit of wood off. It was almost all clear coat.

The scallop on the end of the fretboard is a nice touch.

Very classy looking. Eager for a gig report

A bet the bridge and middle together will growl like a lion
So, the control scheme is as follows:

Vol/vol/tone.
Vol Js, Vol MM, Tone.

Switches are 3 way on/on/on
They will both be wired front, back, parallel.
One for the jazz pickups, one for the MM.

It'll be hum canceling in both Js, Both MM, front J-back MM, Front MM-Back J, and all coils on.

Judging from the pic, it's super close. Have you played it? Duh... :) How's it feel, as is?

Do what you gotta do, Jeezy.

She's a beauty, breaux.
It's not bad dude. Feels just like my Squier contemporary J5. I did have them make the neck to the same deminsions.

But, fret ends are clean, and tucked back. It does neck dive a little. But stops when its level.

And yeah, it's close. The bridge is just slightly cockeyed, and a little off to the bass side. That picture is after I jammed the neck the other direction as far as I could, and slammed the bridge saddles all the way to the treble side.

But, besides those few little problems, she pretty bad. 400 dollar custom bad

Scratch that. It won't intonate. I even moved the bridge all the way up to the pickup. The necks jacked up. The frets don't even match up to the other neck...at all.

I'm gonna try the other one. I'll probably have to move the bridge back farther.

I think this neck is gonna be alright. But, I gotta move the bridge back to where it was. Now, I'm just a little sharp all the way back. Good though, because I didn't like the bridge where it was anyway.

But, I'm gonna do it in the morning. I gotta find my nut files. I could only find 3 of them.

Anyway, to be continued.

This thread reminds me of my past dating life… ‘she is amazing’ to ‘she is crazy’ to ‘I think it is going to work out and I’m happy’ to ‘this sucks, I’m out’…. And that could have been all in a weekend.

sorry the bass is not so good. A worthy experiment. And we all sense the frustration. Especially where it looks like it was soooooo close.

Bummer deal! It looks fantastic, but feel your pain. I built a kit bass that I have struggled to get 'just right'...or even passable, but I'm getting to the point where I feel like it is firewood.
I can get it close. Like, almost "good enough" close. But it's not quite there. And now, while setting it up, I'm finding the high spots as well. Well, at least I have the hardware to trick out something else...or two.

I'll just buy warmoth body. Route it for a Jazz bass, and route in the MM. Call it a day.

Maybe I can find someone to make me a neck that works for it.
