Alibaba Bass

So, I have a few real options here.

Get a neck made for it.

Remove and cover up the bridge pickup hole with the bridge.

Cut an inch off the neck at the heel.

Or simply throw it away.

Longer bridge saddle screws would get you to 34", right? Might just need a trip to hardware store and accepting that the bridge pickup might sound sucky
Yeah, that would suck. I'm cutting my neck an inch shorter. It will either be perfect, need a shim on the sides, or end up what it is right now...trash. I'll be right back

Such a beautiful bass to have to fix the errors they made.

I had been following a lot of these AliExpress bass orders to see how they all worked out, and it seems like the most recent ones have been disaster after disaster. Minor or major ones. Definitely would steer clear of going this route.

But, then again, I had my own nightmare with a custom builder in the UK. The bass was great, but getting it here to the US was a complete and utter disaster...and the builder was zero help.

This is the big risk with going 100% custom at this price point. There’s no templates or prototypes; yours is the prototype. I won’t be going through this process again, but I’m glad I did it even with the frustrations because the curiosity would’ve killed me.

The B needs to go back quite a bit. And the A needs to go forward about one more thread (that I don't have on that screw), but the E D and G strings are in tune.

I have no idea why the A string needs to go up so dang far. Doesn't quite make sense to me. But, it's so close to right.
Happy to see that you are managing it to work out. Did you reach out to Jacky to get some kind of compensation in their part ?

That's really odd for the A string in fact, that's not as if it was a fan fret or something haha

Well, if I get a smaller screw, I can get the B string good. It needs to pretty much go all the way back. I pulled the screw out and just moved it back there. It was good at that point.

And I need a longer screw for the A string. Then...in business.

Well, Jacky said he'd make me another neck, but I just feel like it'd be messed up again, so I've already written the whole thing off as a loss. Instead of waiting for God knows how long, just to be angry and disappointed again.

Well, you got a double disappointment but they actually managed to do great neck for my builds, they are capable of doing so. It doesn't cost anything to let him go for it and let them make a new one no ?
