Paid in advance, doesn't drive so you have to pick him and his gear up or the band pays for his Uber. Does this strike anyone else as slightly narcissistic?

I did a couple of sub gigs in an indie rock band with a pro jazz drummer who required a drum set be set up for him so he could just walk in, play and leave. I forget if he got paid up front, though he probably was because he was in the wind 2 minutes after the last song. One of the guys in the band had been a drummer and brought his kit. He was an incredible drummer, I could see why the band put up with those requirements.

I've had bandmates getting DWIs and needing rides for a year or more, it is what it is. It might be the guy can't drive for some other reason, like being on meds and the treatment ends in March. Maybe he lost his license for something other than DWI.

I played with a guitarist who didn't want to lose his parking spot in front of his apartment for in-town gigs and would take the subway to the gig and either got a ride back from a band member or got taxi money.

In his mind believes he is being upfront which will protect him and alert 'Pro's' he is all about business.

I'm ok with the no b.s. and no rehearsals, but getting paid in advance no matter what, and the band is responsible for his transportation (including paying for it)? In going out on a limb and guessing he won't get any gigs from this ad.
