I'm moderately happy with my Mikro. It doesn't seem to have any build quality issues, and my main beef with it isn't its fault, it's me preferring even shorter scales. It does seem like at that price point you're in "minimal quality control, good luck" territory though.
I have a widget on my phone keeping track of the time since my Miezo 18 order, and it now says 1 month, 0 weeks, 0 days. I'm expecting somewhere around the 3 month range.

mine was absolutely garbage, impossible to set intonation.
neck trussrod was defective and bridge was too close to neck (how the #@$#*#(#&# does that happen?.)
Sounds like you got a lemon. Given the wide praise for them, and my own positive experience with one, I'd say try another Mikro. It's unlikely lightning will strike twice.

Yeah, I had to kind of stop watching Aurora demos when I was just mildly interested. I'm telling myself I can get similar sounds with Unfiltered Audio SpecOps, and I think that's mostly true.
Qu-Bit Prism was kind of neat with some limited uses... but to me one of the biggest reasons to put a delay in a Eurorack system, instead of using pedals or plugins, is to either run it at really short times and use it for physical modeling synthesis, or to modulate it, or to sync it to clocks -- and it was bad at all three of those things. Plus the feedback and wet/dry mix are on the same knob (***?) And the bitcrusher and sample rate were on the same knob too.
I might be cooling off on the Klavis Grainity after watching the videos a few more times. Aside from being a filter I'm starting to suspect the granular side of it might be a bit of a one-trick pony. Still planning to get the Koszalin frequency shifter though.

I'd have thought shimmer is old news by now. I know I'm certainly sick of it.
I have a Nebulae v2 which has a couple um, frustrating, limitations. You can modulate pitch…but not too fast. It has audible latency so you even though you can record live, you can’t. And the grain implementation is weird. But the phase vocoder is pretty much the only hardware phase vocoder I’ve heard and it’s good.
I also really wish companies would put attenuators on modulation inputs like Makenoise does. Otherwise it feels like cost cutting. Few CV out modules have attenuation (ok, Maths, Zadar) so then you get this less-HP module that immediately swells to a module plus something else because you need more attenuation.

it is old news, but every new reverb pedal or module i see seems to “need” it.

...or even one you hate? tbh I've seen this feature on a number of stompbox 'verbs and heard plenty of people mentioning it online, but I'm not sure I've ever heard an example of that effect, or a description of how it differs from every other flavor of digital reverb that's been around for decades.
to my ear it adds a high octave that “shimmers”… not something i like as a steady diet, especially on bass.

Octave shift up inside the reverb feedback loop. 9 times out of 10 it sounds awful IMHO. With the right material and a lot of restraint it can work OK but even at its best, it's not magically awesome.
