They Strymon stuff gets lots of love. I didn't love the Big Sky when I tried it (particularly the shimmer).

The Walrus SLO is a bit easier on the budget, but I haven't tried it. It sounds decent, but hasn't blown me away.


I think @dukeorock used the Specuar Tempus.

Still have the GFI Specular Tempus. I like it :)

Been pulling my hair out trying to learn the Oxi One sequencer. Came up with a short, dopey electro kinda thing just to try it out.

Putting aside the animal cruelty issue for the moment, I generally don't have much sympathy for people who get all worked up over the price of something as nonessential and trivial as a case for a synth. Just don't buy it.

I can see getting out the pitchforks and torches over animal cruelty issues, though, but then again I'm a tree hugger.

My personal beliefs aside, it seems like a tone-deaf move. I think it would be fairly predictable that they'd have a large follower base that would be sensitive and concerned about this point. Not surprisingly, it seems to have some overlap with the folks already upset at the premium branding prices they just started rolling out. I think the company is leaning hard into pushing buttons for reactions. It'l be interesting to see what backlash, if any, hits the musicians photographed using their products.

I don't want to comment any more than I already have, primarily because I'm likely the least knowledgeable person in this thread. I'll just say that I absolutely hate the term "tone-deaf" as it has come to be used. Nails on a chalkboard. Nothing personal though! :thumbsup:

Not just people who don't want something, but people who likely couldn't afford the cheaper previous version, let alone the new items at current prices. I'd bet there are a few in the mix who bit off more than they could chew to buy the original OP-1 and are disappointed at how it performs. I think there's some buyer's remorse bubbling up based on the number of complaints about customer service and requested upgrades to the original.

Their stuff is premium and niche. They don't owe every consumer a right to own what they make, and they don't seem to worry abut folding that into the brand and promotion.

Yo, been a while since I dropped in. Major gear churn here and all my old cabs are gone. No 1515/6/1, no Thunderchild 112, nada. Now I'm just down to my little DIY tweeterless 110 tiltback combo that some local TBer friends built, and the new sheriff:

TC118AF, the only one ever built AFAIK. And I didn't find it, it found me...go figure! My wife just found a Yamaha starter keyboard at the local Goodwill and the neighbors can look forward to some serious payback for past sonic transgressions, I reckon. :roflmao:

It's my Marco Bass that came to me in a barter deal with the luthier. Purpleheart board and some pretty insane custom wound neo sidewinder pickups. That's a discontinued model and he had a few NOS bodies and necks kicking around, with that happening to be the only fretless one.

I asked Marco to optimize this build for slide bass and specifically told him "Manring, not Jaco." ;)

It could be, or an Alembic style +/-15V external power enabler, or used for a Ric-O-Sound config, or even remote control for my amp. 4 pin XLR and 4 conductor cable, currrently just providing battery power offboard in a floor box, with a breakout for mono output to my amp. Marco has mentioned putting a piezo element or two in the bass eventually and then I could break that out on another channel. He gave me the bass with no control holes even drilled and just requested that I not do anything too normal. Love that guy!
