Well she played on the Mars Volta very first EP, so it’s kind of coming around full circle.
Klaus Schulze's final album, Deus Arrakis, is out. He was involved in the soundtrack for the 2021 Dune film, this is kind of a continuation or expansion of that and also earlier themes - the liner notes are a nice read, especially knowing that he passed away soon after.
Coincidentally (?), Jodorowsky's Dune showed up on cable the other day and I watched it for the first time. Haven't seen the new movie, but have read the book (my dad's copy, same as the one that appears in Jodorowsky's Dune), seen the David Lynch film, and even listened to the original Dune album by KS multiple times - wish I could find it, it's around here somewhere...

i liked the new dune, but i'm a fan of the director, haven't read the books and thought the lunch movie was pretty bad (saw it when i cam out and recently, still hated it), so don't take my word for it.
Have you seen Jodorowsky's Dune? I found it deeply interesting and entertaining. The music was going to be by Pink Floyd and Magma! It was going to have concepts by (pre-Alien) H.R. Giger and has portions of an interview with him. And near the end Jodorowsky comments on Lynch's Dune. jodorowsky: i haven't. tbh, pink floyd would be a reason for me to stay away; never got them. magma, i know the main guy is insanely talented, but not to my taste. giger would've been great.
lynch: parts, absolutely, but massive failure on many counts, imo.
All of these were important to my personal formation - the forbidden horror of Alien was tantalizing to me as a ten year old (around 1980) - Pink Floyd were the second rock group I really got into as a 12 year old (after the Beatles) - I discovered Magma in college but got deeply into them in my 30s, never dreaming that I would see them live 4 times! All connected with this film that was never made but that had such a huge impact.
I've never seen any of his films, but I'm getting interested...
Holy Mountain is definitely a must see movie imo.

I immediately think of El Topo ...mostly because when I was ~12 or 13 years old my buddy and I found a Playboy magazine with a pictorial about that movie, which included some scenes edited out of the film, and a few unrelated pics of the actresses who appeared in it. :::schwiiinngg:::
Back in the 80s I didn't like the Lynch Dune film, but now having read the book and knowing the story, it's not such a bad film at all. Has its limitations, to be sure, but now that I actually know what the F is going on in the story I can enjoy the weirdness of it and appreciate it.

Thought I couldn't see it - but figured it out, watching now. Actually, taking a break! So far so good, though I did skip the frog/chameleon battle. Not too into violence against animals, though I understand that the values of the film are from another world than mine.
So what did you think of Naked Lunch and the Ornette Coleman soundtrack?

Sorry to change subjects, but today I whipped together a quick piece using my new stick-o-butter mixer - I kind of grabbed it on a whim - it's so cute! It's just called the "Multi-Box" from a company local to me, Land Devices of Oakland. It's just a passive mixer - 1 in to 3 outs or 3 ins to 1 out. I usually think of these as a way to split a signal, but experimented with it the other way around and came up with this. I was limited by the position of the tripod, but also managed to keep it within the 1 minute mark for Instagram. Decided I like it enough to put it on YouTube too. Though it's not technically a drone, it seemed appropriate for what appears to be a series...

I do... I didn't play it much over the winter, but I do all the time in the summer. I like to put on those overpriced Bass Waza Craft headphones (which do sound amazing and I wouldn't have gotten without a hefty discount) and walk around in my yard or woods at night and play.still liking the miezo?
regret not pulling the trigger a year ago. Prices have gone up and the cad is in the dump.
I am wondering if I'm having a grounding problem in it though as I get this really nasty high-pitched hum. It's a Zen blade, so I'm not sure if it should be doing that or not.
