Working on sequencing tonight. I think I might end up wanting a Euclidean sequencer. I know the Oxi got some love here.

I think what I’m after is the ability to create two free running sequences that only restart together at the first push of “play.” What I’ve got with the Erica is a sequencer that lets me create Seq1 at say 5 steps and Seq2 at 7 steps. My expectation is that they’d just run straight through and then sync up ever 35 steps. What happens is the Erica requires you to set a master Seq length. If I set that at 7 then Seq1 plays 5 steps through, starts over while Seq2 keeps going, then when the “master” completes 7 steps Seq1 & 2 each start over on step 1.

was inches away from getting one but opted for an MXR carbon copy for my board, way more simple to use live. ( i know they are nothing alike, but was looking for a chaos generator for my live rig and the carbon copy checked more boxes for live use)
give us some feedback (pun intended) on how you like it.

I’ve seen that thing around. I started watching the Loopop demo and it looks cool. It’s a lot of real estate and a big price tag, but might be worth it.

Have you ever used Rounds by Native Instruments? It’s got an interesting sequencer component that reminds me of certain parts of the Vector.

I like! Both the music and the imagery.

There's been a glut of people claiming "AI art isn't art" lately and snidely referring to people who use the tools as "typists." This is a pretty great counterexample. I know stuff like Stable Diffusion can be problematic, but so can a camera, or a pencil, or more accurately, the human brain. I think we have more hope of fixing the problems AI causes than the problems humans cause on their own

I like the stage it’s at now with deform and stable diffusion where it is imperfect and can struggle to find a form.
When it gets to where you can’t tell the difference I probably wouldn’t find it as interesting.
At the moment, with regard to moving image anyway, it’s far from just a matter of typing prompts. It gave me different results but it wasn’t necessarily quicker or easier than using other animation techniques.
Also I record the music, mix, master, publish and make the videos for a very small audience so I have to be realistic about whether I want to spend money on it. My time is another matter.

it’s not cheap and it’s not small, but it does a lot. i’m pretty sure the loopop thing is a few firmwares back.

you wanted something that can do different sequence lengths: no problem.

you can also do stuff like have the steps inside have a different length, with some judicious planning, you can have a a few sequences with the same length that always start in the same place but diverge from each other in the middle (i have that on of the pieces i’ve done, have to remember which).

chance operations to further change things

generative operations including euclidean (pam’s is also your friend)

microtonal scales

always refining the firmware (they just did a deep dive on the new firmware on youtube) and responsive to owner community

it’s basically the hardware version of numerology, from what i understand.

haven’t tried or heard of the rounds.

i was talking to friend who had both metron and vector about them and he laid it out for me and suggested vector for what i wanted to do. i think he was right.

it make it bigger, but i’d get the jack expander, as it adds more cv outputs and midi din, which is nice to have (i’ve used, seemed locked down).

i kind of just went on his recommendation and didn’t dod a ton more research.

@monsterthompson I am also very happy with the Vector and expander. I was a longtime Numerology user, and it is very much like an hardware version of the core of that program. Also, I have a marked up Launchpad mini and I highly recommend it. Fantastic for performance. Also, the screen is big and easy to read. Unusual for Eurorack. The only thing it doesn’t do super well is chords.

The Usta looks cool but the list of button combos in the manual made my eyes glaze over.

In other modular news, I got the Intellijel 7u set up (slightly higher than the stock angle thanks to hockey pucks) and there’s room now for a 3U skiff as well. 10u of modular gear is quite a luxury! Though of course that 1u row is begging to be filled up.

I have been messing around with the other modes in Clouds. Not as smitten as I thought I’d be. I may retire it for now to free up space for in-rack mixing of some kind. I am deliberating between the Makenoise “distributed” mixing approach, a proper Euro stereo mixer with sends and CV (maybe the Frap QSC) or adding the ES-6 (which is in the closet) for more inputs to AUM on the iPad but I can only use that or the MOTU828 that hosts my hardware synths at one time.

I am just starting to experiment with the Fumana. Tonight my wife messed around with the Implexus while I run different recordings from the Nebulae into the mod input. So a granulated piano or mbira loop was shaping the sound of the synth. Pretty cool.

I am also really loving Beads.

This is a bit of a diversion some of you may find interesting. There once was a weird place in spacetime called the 1970s. Some of us remember it, or at least part of it, but it was a while ago and we need occasional reminders of its weirdness. For example, a dance troop performing to a piece made for a Moog modular synth. No doubt too young for the little red lights in the palms of their hands to start blinking yet, but the Sandmen will be watching.

I just got an Intellijel 7u also. It only has a couple modules in it right now, but it will end up housing some sort of sampling/granular stuff. (Right now I'm leaning towards the Qu-Bit Nebulae.) I've got an Endorphin.es Cockpit 1u on the way, so maybe check that out for your system. I'll likely end up getting an Intellijel Duatt also, which seems like another good all around choice for that 1u row.

From 3.35 it is mostly bass using the Meris Enzo through fuzz pedals etc.
There's real bass throughout also for the high up delay bits.

I have the Intellijel 7U as well. Got the padded travel bag for it as well. Not totally full at the moment as I’ve sold off several modules, but close to full. It used to be set up as a groovebox kinda thing, but now it’s mostly just for analog synth voices and playing bass through. Sold my 3U skiff to avoid temptation. Rample and Bitbox Micro are gone, though they were both good for sure. I just keep rethinking my rig over and over and kinda burnt out on it. I have more than enough gear to make music on
I don’t regret selling most things (yet) except possibly the Norand Mono and the Cwejman SM-1. I’m getting close enough to the Norand vibe in my existing rack

Thanks. I used Deform Stable Diffusion and After Effects and Premiere to edit and upscale.
I used it with a Google Colab account to use their GPUs. The free version works fine.
