I have a 4-channel powered Rolls mixer that is about the same size and gets the job done for me. Sort of. Thing about mixers is that you always seem to need 1 or 2 more channels than you actually have.

The feedback function seems to be the big feature, aside from stereo.

I borrowed a friends 0Coast for about 6 months awhile back and loved it. But after I returned it to him I never bought one for myself. Just couldn’t quite do it. The Taiga is on my radar for sure. But I’m also seriously thing of getting a used Hydrasynth
I couldn’t get excited about that one but I’ll keep checking it out to see if something clicks.
Kinda cool looking, ain’t it? The only thing I see that I like more about this is the auto fill function. The new M8 3.0 updates is crazy and I can’t see the Polyend competing with it. Though M8’s involve waiting lists because it’s a one man operation. Between the M8 and the Octatrack I feel pretty set for that sort of thing. M8 is genius, but like the Octatrack, the learning curve is a bit intimidating at first.
i'm a bit late, sorry! been meaning to write about taiga (pmt) vs. 0-coast (mn0c)
imo, the taiga, while it has its drawbacks, might be the best option for getting into the semi modular universe.
pmt has 3 osc vs. mn 0c, which has 1 (both have 1v/octave pitch and fm per osc)
pmt has a wave folding per osc vs. mn0c does not
pmt has wave shape modulation per osc vs. mn0c sort of does
pmt has more wave shapes per osc than mn0c (but you do a fair amount with the mn0c)
pmt has a filter vs. mn0c does not
pmt has 2 adsr vs. mn0c has 1 asr (which can kind of act as an adsr)
pmt has a bb delay (it's not great, but it's there) vs. mn0c does not
pmt has a pretty limited lfo vs. mn0c has a better version
both have midi implementation
both have a lot of patch points for self-patching and integration with other modular/semi-modular

Had a fun night jamming with the Miezo 18. It has gathered a bit of dust so I needed to plug it in. I ran it through the usual chain of pre/dirt set fairly clean, then into the OTO BIM & BAM (reverb & delay).
The Miezo with Nordy Zen Blades plays quite nicely with the Hilbish Sol Invictus preamp.
I wanted to hit record, but I was having too much fun noodling around to plug in the interface and open the laptop.

I think I've decided on the Taiga.
It was in a Thomann B-Stock sale yesterday too but I just missed it while deciding.
I'll order one after I've gotten the Dreadbox Nymphes.
Too many new things at once could be a little overwhelming

This didn’t age well.
A Taiga popped up in the Thomann BStock again for €739 just as an 0-Coast came up second hand for €400.
I pulled the trigger on the Taiga.
I’d made my mind up. Seems far more future-proof as a stand-alone unit. I won’t need anything else for a while now.
The time spent learning it is as valuable as the cash difference tbh and it’s probably best my fist (semi) modular synth uses conventional terminology!
Thinking about all the mental chess moves I’d have to do deciphering the 0-Coast’s kooky nomenclature while simultaneously learning modular seems like work.
I'm a big believer in interface being everything. The Taiga seems well labelled and straightforward.
And just because you get both pieces of gear at the same time doesn't mean you have to learn them at the same time (though Nymphes is pretty straightforward as far as I can tell).
Speaking of interface, I just got a used Dnipro Metamorph, which I've only played with for a few minutes, but I really like it. Very well designed, easy to use, and lots of possibilities. In addition to the stages like on a MN Pressure Points or Serge programmer, it's got a nice sequencer built in, and variable slew right on the front panel (I did have to be break my "no more trimmers" rule for this though).
I'm still having fantasies about a 4U system, but I am going to wait and try out a friend's Music Easel and see where it goes from there.
