any of you guys know pf a pedal that would act like a pulsating ARP on a synth?
Looking to do some 16th notes at about 180bpm
I can hold it with a pick, but right arm needs a few weeks rest from practicing this so much. It has so much string skipping and needs to be very sharp/tight.
I dont want to have long term damage on my arm
Yes, I definitely would use this as a « cheat ».
The older I get, the more the body crumbles.
(uses dolorian to go kick my own 20 yo self’s ass to learn pick playing instead of being an idiot jazz funk whatever snob)

I’ve been on the path of buying a new 5 string bass, but considering that I might be better off with a bass vi or baritone guitar. Got ye olde guitar out last night to see how much I could/would play something with tighter spacing and six strings.
In the early stages of my recovery from my nerve damage I didn’t have the fine motor control to manage the thin strings and spacing. Now that it’s been a few years I seem to have more comfort on the guitar. So I’m thinking that as much as I’d like a new bass, perhaps a different stringed instrument might make sense for my collection.
Oh frivolous decisions.

This is my personal favorite version - I love how the Japanese audience goes nuts. I can speak Japanese, but learned some vocabulary from this song - "ongakka" is musician, "sakkyoku suru" is compose, I even learned the words for "add" and "subtract"
First, that's great news. I'm sort of with you. Now that my picking is better, I need to continue working on my pick technique and have been fantasizing about a baritone acoustic guitar. I still have that carbon fibre acoustic bass I need to figure out how to sell.
In other news, I may be doing a 180 on the Eventide H90. It looks like it could replace my RJM switcher, two H9s, and a POG in one go. OTOH, it's hard to know without laying hands on one. At least I know what I'm getting into sonically and in terms of interface.
Also, I don't know if people are selling much gear here, but I've been finding prospective buyers a lot less friendly and more hostile lately. What's up with that? I never loved selling but in the past had really pleasant exchanges with other musicians--I mean, we're all in this together, right?
Yes, 100% , a lot of buyers suck @$$ these days, not much here on TB but marketplace and Kijiji is a freakin nightmare ocean of idiots.

Yes, if there's pain you really do. I don't always listen to my pain when it's iatrogenic (caused by medication) but when it's other stuff, I have gotten much better at not being macho.

Yeah, I dont generally get pain from playing, even about 28 years on the instrument but we practiced a song last jam session that requires very fast tremolo picking and string crossing.
We basically played a loop of it for a long time to allow the singer to write lyrics.......... and it wrecked my arm.
need the dislike button… even finger playing I remember doing that in my thrash band with one passage playing at 220+bpm for a long while, if I was out of practice it was basically grit my teeth and hope I wasn’t too out of time… thrash did lots for my right hand practice but not much of my fretting band stuff hah!
On another note, sold a pedal recently and the guy wanted to know what it sounded like on guitar. I hadn’t played guitar in around 6 years but pulled it out anyway… all I could remember was a few Metallica and greenday riffs and that was it… and remembered why I switched to bass all those years ago. I’m a much better mediocre bassist than I am a very bad guitarist
It’s funny that I have had good buyers of my excess pedals… yet loads of other commonplace items my friends sell (via fb and the like) seem to have that as a common theme that buyers are generally baddddd these days. I don’t know, I hoard because I hate selling… sometimes just seems too hard to go through the process!
back on track a bit, getting an afterneath to go with the rest of my board to add a bit more of an ambient / fun pedal to mess with… see how that goes with the walrus audio slo on there already for combined reverb craziness

The easiest playing bass I have is the Nordy Acinonyx which has a 30.7 scale, which is about what a bass vi would be, so I’m interested in that angle. I do have some reach issues in the first frets so going baritone at 27-28” has some comfort advantages. I’ve read a few threads on why folks would pick one over the other, but figured I’d ask here.

I haven't played much guitar lately and when I sat out on my deck in the nice weather DC gets for 2 days every spring to play my acoustic my fingertips were killing me from those tiny strings. Need to build some callouses.
As far as buyers being jerks, maybe it's just because prices are up everywhere for everything and buyers tend to take it out on sellers because, well, who else can you yell at directly?
