I think that's done to maximize the sympathetic resonances. Or at least it is on tongue drums, not sure about hang drums.
I have a HAPI Origin in D Akebono, which I guess they don't offer anymore. (I got it at a discount as a "blemished" unit and could never find any actual blemish, so that was nice.) But they have a version where you can retune it with weighted magnets... not sure how difficult or easy that is though.
Also, I rarely post videos, but who's ordering this one?
It seems more chaotic than I like. The Elmyra 2 might be more my jam, but honestly, I think I will just stick with my WitchBrute combo.
I copped a used Seaboard Block + 2 Lightpad Blocks for less than I could find anyone else selling just the Seaboard. I love the keyboard itself, although I find I have to crank the velocity sensitivity way up if I don't want to have to karate chop the thing. Pressure responds really well, and real MPE (instead of just poly aftertouch) is a joy with Aalto and the Noise Engineering Vereor plugins.
I'm less thrilled with the Lightpads. Clever ideas behind them but I'm not sure the execution is there. There are magnetic links so several Blocks can share power and MIDI, but in practice they're not stable enough and disconnect, and start trying to pair over Bluetooth... and Windows still doesn't support Bluetooth over MIDI, it's got to use USB instead. So you need one USB cable per device, which means I'd need another hub to use them all. The latency is noticeable and they're not super smooth or accurate so I think I'd rather use real faders and my Planar. I'm hanging onto them for now in case I think of something clever to do with 'em, but might resell one or both and just keep the Seaboard.

Came here to post that myself. I'm twitching and I don't think it's the afternoon's caffeine. I've got so many delay and reverb effects between Eurorack and software, and told myself I wasn't going to get back into pedals, and yet...
I so often hate shimmer reverb, so why does their Light algorithm sound so freaking good?
I feel like Shimmer is the effect that went fastest from “everyone wants” to “everyone hates,” though honestly I hear plenty of octave up pitch shifting in the stuff I’m listening to.

Right now I'm thinking, I can hold out for a used one/discount, while experimenting with plugins. I might change my mind and go for it anyway, but I just bought that Roli stuff and a new chair, and Spectraphon and Interstellar Radio are still in their honeymoon phase, so I should maybe take things... slower.

We have a new video coming out this weekend. We did the video with shadow puppets. The intro is, relevant to this thread, a big ambient wash of guitar delays and a simple partly randomized sequence I made with the Zoia. We had a much longer of that intro which our producers (aka spouses) vetoed and made me play a dumb bass lead over.* But we decided to use part of it for this 'behind the scenes' short.

Chase Bliss Audio just announced a new pedal, "Reverse Mode C"
Maybe I'm jaded ...or maybe I just have a few too many Chase Bliss pedals? ...but this doesn't sound distinctly different than what I can achieve with MOOD + Habit. More swirly twinkly reverse delays 8va. Is CBA just re-hashing all their old ideas, or am I just getting tired of all the cork sniffing and hair splitting?
