I liked Geiger Counter, but mostly as a wavetable-based waveshaper/distortion rather than for the other stuff. Wound up selling it because I figured I could get those results other ways (Shapeshifter or Bitwig now).
I'm not sure I was 100% right since it has its unique vibe, but no regrets either way.

I'm mainly interested for the wave shaping rather than bit or sample reduction, and for synths rather than bass. Seems like it would be good for my Perfourmer and/or 208c to get some less traditional sounds. And apparently the last version is capable of subtle as well as over the top sounds. So, yes, please tell me about your experience with it. The maker is selling the last few of the final version and I'm curious. I don't buy a lot of pedals anymore but I do feel like special flavours of distortion are...special and harder to replicate through other means. I messed around with a Red Panda Bitmap sometime back but felt it was more about the bit and sample manipulation and the wave folding / wave shaping was a secondary feature.

It's been a while honestly. The input level is absolutely key, it's extremely responsive to dynamics. Theoretically if you feed it a sawtooth with exactly the right gain it will produce exactly whatever wave is in the bank; more than that and it does a sort of folding effect.
There are lots of things that can do this. I first played with it on the ER-301 Sound Computer, then on SynthTech E352. Piston Honda and Shapeshifter let you do it too and there are probably others -- any wavetable VCO where you can completely stall the oscillator, or at least drop to a very slow LFO rate, then drive a phase or TZFM input with an audio signal. Xaoc Jena is basically wavetable lookup for their Liebniz system (I had some issues with it but they've apparently done a firmware update recently). In Bitwig Grid, you can do the same trick with the Wavetable module (or their new stuff whose name I forget, the sort of unified MSEG/waveshaper thing).
What I had was the standard Geiger Counter pedal, but in a black colorway (it didn't look like the LE version of GC Pro they have listed right now). It's possible than when I sold mine, that was when I was generally bailing out of pedals. I was half tempted by the Eurorack version of Geiger Counter, but CV control didn't seem that useful (while an input VCA might have been really handy).

I had the “normal version”. not the pro, civilian or bass model.
the yellow and red one
- as previously mentioned the input is really a pain in the @$$, takes a long time to balance the input gain right to any wavetable.
- forget using it live, any tweak of a millimetre of any knob changes the sound, so getting a setting you liked recalled is quite the chore even with a picture with your cellphone of the settings.
- a lot of the wavetables sound the same, lots of overlap
- lack of clean blend. I usually hate clean blends on dirt pedals but on the Geiger Counter it was a must.
So I had to boot up my DAW with an extra track whenever I used the pedal. Always try phase flipping the tracks btw!!
- imo, any of the subtle settings where “meh” sounding. its not called WMD for nothing (weapons of mass destruction)
- must mention that I’m not a big fan of bitcrushers, once below 8bits they all sound the same.

Uh, Led Zeppelin was Led Zeppelin for D&D fans, with songs like Ramble On, Misty Mountain Hop, etc. Rush had, as far as I can remember one song that directly references Tolkien (Rivendell) , Zeppelin had a few.
Just putting that out there. Also, if Geddy were as good-looking as Robert Plant, Rush would've had way more female fans. Looks and sex appeal counts as much as talent. Just a fact of the music business. If Jim Morrison had been ugly, the Doors would be just another forgotten band from the 60s liked mostly by dudes.
I know the article wasn't being critical, but as a giant Rush dork with a Star Trek avatar I am sensitive and always spoiling for a fight!

i’m pretty interested in a few of the view options, some of the new midi optionz and, most importantly for me, the alternate tuning options (hoping that they work with my plug-ins).
