Very nice, even though I have a very different board, this reminds me of some of the things I get out of mine.
What exactly are you looking for?

I'm intrigued, maybe you know about some equipement I'm unaware of. MAybe......who am I kidding, I'm sure you know tons of stuff I have no clue about,

I get that for sure. I will say it's super easy to make/obtain samples and transfer them to a Model:Samples. The Elektron protocol works very well and spending a day loading samples can create months or maybe even years of possibilities to work with. I do love having my Octatrack to just play samples into in real time. It's considerably more expensive though and sometimes a simpler, more streamlined setup can bring about more music.
I've come to really appreciate Elektron's more affordable, yet limited boxes. The knob per function thing is what got me into eurorack, in many ways. There's something about menus and 'programming' that takes the joy away for me.
The Cirklon still seems to be the king of hardware sequencers. Expensive and a very long waiting list to even get one though. Kinda seems like Ableton is about as good as it gets for sequencing, but I just don't like making music on computers and I'm pretty committed to never using a computer live. I guess we're all looking for more satisfying ways of making music that goes beyond 'pressing play' with preprogrammed parts, or simply making drones with thousands of dollars worth of pedals.
All that to say, at this point the Elektron sequencers suit me most of the time to attempt making music that feels honest and the new 'Model' series puts nearly all the controls in a knob per function setup that can lend itself to improvisation and real time music...if only in my head

Seriously I have a delay problem. Moog MF-104M, Strymon Volante, EAR AD4096 mkII, Keeley Eccos, Incoming Erica Synths Zen Delay (due to the demo posted here), and have you seen the demos for the Echo Fix EF-X2? It's so sweet.

I'll bet once they get enough subscribers it goes beyond getting free stuff. They get paid. BoBeats quit his job years ago to do the youtuber thing a few years ago and you can't live on free gear alone
Though I LOVE Loopop and DivKid and some of the others, I just think of their videos as paid promotions and not reviews as such. Loopop is big enough to have the nerve to do 'pros and cons' and not fear getting cut off by manufacturers. Or maybe the Patreon thing is more lucrative than I would think it could be. I do support a couple folks on Patreon for a tiny bit per month. Guess it all adds up

Totally get it! I've seen a couple folks do mind blowing improvs using only that machine. It's a beautiful thing
not to unduly tempt anybody, but Pladask is having one of their restocks, ie " the site crashes while everyone tries to grab something" in like 40-odd minutes
what i want is something that will *record* midi data in real time. the step sequencer where i have to input by step doesn't work for what i want to do.
the pyramid might do it, but i'm not willing to pay $700 for this.
and i want a small standalone device, not a laptop.
not want most people want, so probably not something that's available.
This seems like a thing I've chased. Let me see what I can remember, and if any options are under the Pyramid price tag.

the problem for me is that i basically only want to use it for live stuff. the storage thing would be a nice add-on that most other people would want.
I might be misunderstanding the want then. From the little I've played with midi-over-usb there is a ton of data that is flowing around and logging it and getting it later is easier. The idea I sort of have brewing is midi data logger, couple buttons (sync, overall start, phrase start-phrase end- overall end and it'd have some midi-ins, midi-out, usb for midi and for the treating internal data as a usb drive. Again, the engineer brain is talking so this makes sense to me, not sure about the rest of y'all, hahahaha.
Dealing with live, in-stream manipulation of midi commands and re-sampling/re-sending/looping commands is a different beast that totally gets way harder with out big work space and some dedicated software. Thats in my experience at least. I kind of hate software for making music, so I understand where you're coming from, hahahahaha.
