totally. i tried it a number of years ago. results were not often predictable. my guess is that people who really know it can get something more out of it. my old computer was probably a little weak for it, so i think i'll give it a spin again as i'll probably have time to get back into over the next few months . . .

I tried it and got some interesting results. Definitely needs a lot of experimentation to get a feel for how it works.
Something new from the last few days. 2 Mother 32's, a Microbrute, and a Theremin through various delay and reverb pedals.
Something good coming out of this tonight, stay tuned.
I'm desperately trying to not get into modular. I jam w a guy who does it and I just would rather stay in my money pit of stomp boxes. Speaking of which, I just snagged a Pladask Elektrisk BAKFRAM reverse delay granular delay thingy and I'm waiting on a Drolo Molecular Disruptor to arrive. I have about one more pedal in me for the quarantine and can't decide if I should go for the Paragraphs or something like a Mood. I don't have tons of time for music, but I kinda wanna keep going deep and working on table top stuff while refining my rig to keep my mind busy at night after the kiddies are in bed.
I like stomp boxes because in the end I am still a bass player, and I can use them with my bass. My synths are along for the ride.
Isn't a pedalboard basically the same as a modular setup? I know it clearly isn't but the options open to us now have surely closed the gap by a bit?
Probably not the best example, as I am not a close follower of the world of modular music but I saw the recording of Billy Corgan doing the modular set against the reading of Siddartha and the thought came that I could probably make music that annoying with stuff I already have.
I mean, I'm most likely missing something. Is there perhaps an iconic piece that could only have been created with a modular rig or is it more a case of different paths leading to the same goal?

If Korg released another Miku pedal but based on Billy Corgan's voice I would buy that in a heartbeat. They could even take inspiration from Source Audio's One series where you can load different singers.

I have to be honest, I walked out of Billy’s last concert I went to cos it was basically him doing whatever he liked with a “backing band”, refusing to play any early smashing pumpkins and basically booed his own crowd... that was around zeitgeist or whatever it was... never really liked after most of Mellon collie era.
But I digress... I’ll go back to my little study hole of trying to make the perfect rising synth sweep sounds
Having a modular is kind of like having an orchestra to conduct. A pedalboard can’t really do that. I guess looping is similar.
