It was only a matter of time until I broke down and got a M o o d. Interestingly enough, I did consult w the mrs before purchasing (which was odd since I never do). I'm the bread winner in the family and support the whole shabiggle she had a part time job mostly to give her something to do and now that shes been furloughed her pay actually went up (like double) thanks to the govt upping unemployment benefits. She asked how much I said 300 (yeah I know I shaved $50 off...but other than that Im honest, dont cheat/lie/etc) and she was like hell yeah, I thought you were going to say 3000. I did take the hydrasynth out of the Im gonna buy equation but thats the other thing thats only a matter of time...thankfully they are kinda hard to find so maybe Ill forget about it?

I am really enjoying twisting knobs on these tabletop pedal setups. Bleep blooping has never been more fun (and good sounding).

I love the 'tell the spousal unit it costs less' thing. Been there, done that. My wife has no idea what things cost, musically.

As far as the pricetag, I'm still unsure how much I'll use the granular, so I didn't want to take that leap, just yet. I wish there was a 99 dollar decent granular pedal, but it's certainly something with limited appeal.

I’m still not sold on granular. Folks love it, but it’s not inspiring enough for me to use frequently. It has a place, but I haven’t clicked with it as an effect. My Empress Echo and Zoia each have granular capabilities.

It seems like it's a mixed bag for me, can do a lot of chaos, but with some patience, can get some unique sounds that can be processed into something sweet.

The more I play with these granular delays the more I realize that ideally I want a crap-ton of parallel signal paths with real-time mixing capability -- preferably pedal controlled -- so that I could determine while I'm playing the bass whether the discombobulated granules are foreground material or background material or dynamically moving between & betwixt, and also so I could seed these delays with material "behind the scenes", i.e., let them run dark while their buffers are loading up (and possibly cascading into other pedals) and only reveal their output at a musically appropriate moment.


Jesus that's a long sentence...

Yeah, I am reasonable w most things but go big on hobbies/passions. I drive an Accord but play a Carl Thompson...not that Thompsons new are that expensive compared to other builders. 2nd hand is crazy though. Come to think of it, now I don't drive a car since turning it in last weekend and not getting a replacement. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Its a big reason why I won't entertain a modular rack.

As far as granular delay/glitchers...I have a smattering of them. They are my favorite kind of pedal.

I really like things that make non traditional sounds. I tend to favor bleep bloops over straight noise but I can get down w some rocket sounds, esp evolving those sounds into different sounds. Depending on the granular delay, there are literal rabbit holes of functionality and if you like twisting knobs...these pedals were built for that.

I happen to also have a MIDI setup that allows me to twist knobs w expression pedals opening things up for live playing w an instrument...but if you aren't using them on in a situation where you can access functionality then I think they are a waste. Using them w one setting and just on/off is the equivalent of playing one note on an instrument (which has its merits - esp w this group ;)) but if you only need one note, why get an instrument that can play all the notes? They are instruments unto themselves and that's why they are fun, but yeah if you like on/off 2 or 3 knobs then look away.

for me: nice basses, crap wardrobe, frugal habits.

Awesome pedal set up. Ill take 2 of each.

What would makes me nuts is all the line/instrument/mic level converters I would need to use that.

I dunno if I’m the only regular SP user on here, but here is an interesting master class none the less.
I already picked up a few awesome tips and tricks just by watching. (Haven’t watch it completely yet...there also is a part 2) I especially learned ALOT seing his use of the pattern sequencer.

Except I dont have a 2nd SP, I use a 4 track to bounce stuff back and forth.
(I’ll have a second sampler......someday.....)
