Ah man, hope you can get it sorted.

My older laptop took a bad Windows 10 install last summer and all my files disappeared, but I took it to a good tech and he was able to recover everything, so now I have a solid back up machine and that guy is my hero.

time for shamelss pimping.

new toques “album”: it’s been a while in the making. mixing and mastering delays, etc. originally we were gonna do a mini-tour this summer to support. you can guess what happened! since there’s no touring window in sight, we’re doing a digi-only release for the time being.

nathan: plays acoustic and electronic drums, samples and field recordings (via iphone).

me: ebasses, stereo effects and looping; samples and synths (via ipads) with stereo effects and looping; live, not post, panning.

Very cool sounding music!

Summers are short up here, there are more people than trees, there's a huge appreciation for the arts and nature, it's not crowded, it's one of the least religious and most liberal, so all wins in my book (well, except for the short summer - it's like 6 months of winter).

We have four... mud season, summer, stick season, winter. I live up a little mountain, 5 miles up a dirt road, and the ruts are almost a foot deep in the spring.

Still can't think of any place in the US I'd rather be, especially right now... we have a disproportionately low amount of insane people here, and we're only one of two states in the green right now for Covid.

I think the reason the Hydrasynth is so good is its interface design. I don't own one because I have a bunch of other synths, but I have played with one and they really did it right. It sounds good, though I don't think I'd buy it just for the sound (not that it's bad, just that lots of synths sound that good these days). It's much more intuitive than lots of other digital synths that can't do as much as it can (vs WYSIWYG designs, where the interface is great but there are other limitations). Which makes it more fun, and easier to be creative with it because you're not reading a manual all the time.

Agree with this so much. As a synth n00b, the UI has me grooving and being deliberate almost instantly. If you know anything about synthesis you can be pretty dangerous with this thing pretty fast. It's really designed for live use above all.

I just snagged the 4 new ones today. I'm REALLY excited about all 4 of those, but the one to beat is the LoFi. That's the one I use more than any other...in fact, I hardly used the others beyond basic auditioning of effects. The biggest problem with Arcades is it makes you want more than one of the pedal so you can use more than one effect at a time, but LoFi all day!

I just realized I said there were more people than trees in Vermont. Nope. Definitely nope. Although I did have a 400 pound bear outside of my bedroom window, about 15 feet away, the other night, which is yet another perk.

Woke up my wife, then pretty much watched as it walked away. Came back a few minutes later. Had a hard time sleeping because I was so giddy. Biggest black bear I've seen.

I’ve met some people travelling overseas who think us aussies are crazy because we eat our kangaroos... I think you win hands down with the bear though!
