instead of asking all sorts of questions, I have gone an brought one, hopefully should be delivered by the end of the week.

I might start a new Korg Wavestate thread here, since there doesn't seem to be one.
Looks like it is an under-rated machine for bass type stuff, I can finally retire my battered and worn old Roland GR-55,
and use the Boss SY-1000 with this, the SY bass to midi could be interesting also to drive the synth tones.

I’m away for a couple days and the thread explodes. Dealing with start of term cluster****ery. It seems my university is intent on actually facilitating a major Covid outbreak.

@monsterthompson — pain sucks! But there must be a way for you to keep playing. I have found massage and osteopathy (a good one) very helpful for me with pain. Also lower string tension helps me.

@uglybassplayer — I also really like patterning2 on IPad. The Elektron sequencer is fun, though.

Monday night I had the first indoor practice with the post rock band in 18 months. It was amazing. 3 hours flew by. I played all my old bass parts in touch guitar and it actually worked. I started two years ago because of pain but I swear it’s been an occasion to grow musically. And it doesn’t hurt!

Obligatory gear sniffing: I have no good reason to want one but am eyeing an Orange Dark Terror. What I really want is a 15 or 30 watt OD120 in a Terror enclosure. But I also don’t need that.

It occurs to me that Akai has a more affordable MPC (MPC1?) that’s getting good reviews. I know nothing about MPC’s, but they are supposed to be the best at chopping samples, which I saw you mention. Just a thought. But as always, all roads lead to the Octatrack:)

So, my pickups just cleared customs which means they should be here in a few days. Which do I put in the Touch Guitar first to try. Online demos tell me *** all. At least Andy Irvine's inherent Andy Irvineness in his fingers isn't totally different from my attack.

1. Single coil Big Blade. Argument for: description sounds like what I need. Lots of slam, and I like pickups with wide, squat coils generally. Instrument is too thin sounding with the current pickup. Argument against: I hate single coil hum.

2. Zen Blade in series. Not as much slam as the Big Blade but maybe a little clearer? Probably still lots of mids, supposedly a "good platform for effects," no hum. Argument against: I have a Big Blade and it's suppose to be angrier (in a good way).

An interesting variable: I play by tapping, though I occasionally pluck and strum. So there will be more "fret" in the sound.

For reference, my favourite pickup in the world is the G&L split coil MFD.

Big Blade. Try the one that your gut tells you is the right pickup. If the guitar is well shielded then it should be fine.
