In any event, I'm sort of moving in a direction more like you and some others on this thread now. I'm tracking a bunch of stuff with my Cosmos (trying for once a day) and then will cut it up in Bitwig, maybe add synths, maybe something else, maybe nothing. IDK.

Speaking of which, I just learned about Rachika Nayar, whose guitar playing and granular mangling is a good vibe for me.

samplr was great for the time it came out (how long ago was that?).

afaik, the developer got hired by apple to do other stuff, so its updates have been very spotty at best. good for him, bad for those of us who loved samplr and his work.

samplr *is* really simple, but for being able to record stuff on the fly and then play with the sound file like fingerpainting, it's pretty damned wonderful.

I have two Versios in my rack -- Melotus and Lacrima. I thought auto-wah wasn't going to be useful, but that one surprised me a lot with how great it sounds. It's also got saturation and a chorus, and the filter doesn't necessarily have to be tied to the envelope follower.

cool. you find them versatile and useful?

i’m not sure how much i love auto wah anything. my limitation.

i’m much more interested in the stereo distortion. that’s something i think i would use all the time.

Neither the Lemon Drop nor the other one really get me excited. It seems to do a bit less than some granular apps on my iPad. But there is always the appeal of hardware--sometimes things just randomly stop working on my iPad because of a software update, which is a drag.

@Funky40 sometimes I look at the Blackbox as a simpler alternative to my Octatrack, but then I think "can't I just do all that on Koala on my iPad?" Not exactly, but still.

What are you trying to do on iOS? Im gathering something re samples and AU3s, which makes me wonder if youve seen the new Loopy Pro, but without more context, thats just a half formed thought I have.

Yep, I know if I ever get tired of those two algorithms there are several other good ones. Imitor (the delay) was a favorite for a while -- kind of like Afterneath in that space between delay and reverb IMHO.

Rumor says there's eventually going to be one for each letter of the alphabet.

I do have it. I know it’s the new hotness, but so far hasn’t clicked for me. It does a lot of things I don’t want and not a lot of things I want.

ya, Im not really using its main feature I suppose. The audio looping. We are just using it as a sampler and au3 host for a midi drum multi pad and keyboard. It wasnt the obvious first choice for that. I had thought Drambo would be a better host. But it was having some odd issues with sample triggering. The nice thing about it for a simple setup though is just being a customizable layout.

fwiw my infatuation with envelope-controlled filters only blossomed when I discovered setting Sensitivity and Peak values way down below the threshold where they would quack on every attack. Making stuff bubble and gurgle as your playing dynamics dance around just above and below that threshold, that's the shiznit. "Bow bow bow bow bow..." eh, not so much.

One thing I've learned about myself is I'm not an interface designer, but I appreciate the work of people who are.

impressive.

use of dynamics, space, silence, density, timbre variation, shape. all really good and interesting.

lyra only? no off-board fx?
