I've bought a couple of albums that are Lyra-8 only. It's a very distinctive instrument!

When I had one, I found it could be a little tricky to get it to sit well in a mix without completely dominating. A bit of EQ to bring down the more resonant peaks helped though. I love the way playing multiple pads will interact and bend the other notes.

Hearing update.

Doing some home hearing tests today with sine waves and Ableton panning automation. Not sure how long it's been like this but the right side is definitely lacking below 100 Hz though it seems to get a sense of things having "thin" sound around 50 Hz, but not the beefy oomph the left side perceives. Around 200 Hz things start to balance out between left and right, though there is a bit of a tone and volume difference.

The GP's suggestion of OTC meds seems to have been helping, and I've noticed some improvement. I think I'm going to go get a good evaluation at an Audiologist as soon as I can, and get the GP to give me an ENT referral.

It's funny, I always thought my right ear was the "better one" at hearing details even in loud settings, but it seems like the left has a better range and sensitivity. I wonder if the "HPF" hearing loss has been there for a while and it has been filtering out rumble.

The good news is that things seem better than they did earlier in the week.

@monsterthompson glad to hear your hearing is improving. I lost hearing for a few days from a lightning strike near my open window (well, thunder). It has completely returned. The audiologist should be able to tell you more.

If you go to an audiologist they can test not only your hearing through your eardrums but they also put this headphone sort of thing on your skull near your ears and it tests the actual nerves (IIRC...it's been a little bit since I had it done). They can really hone in on where your problem lies.

Freshly converted to headless, hehe. Intonation and height also just adjusted.
Its still somehow provisoric.

the Bass was ugly neckdivy in its original state! unplayable (at least for me).
its immens how different the whole bass feels on the body without any neckdive, and with that 400 Gr.´s less weight. .....2.8 kg, hehe.
Not shure if its a regular 30" or just a kinder-Bass ? .......a funny test anyway.

I fell asleep while listening to Zazen last night. Not meditation, but it works, apparently. Serious Stars of the Lid energy. Checking out the Dark Sparkler now.

A couple updates on my end.

I reinstalled the regular Cosmos firmware. I think I like the range of delay times better than I do the rhythmic stuff. For timed looping I have the Blooper.

I needed a little more room in my setup because the pedals and the synth stuff on the table were too close together. My wife remembered we had some old shelving in the storage locker. It's not perfect but it's a great way to try something out.

And in an update on a long-forgotten topic, I am leaning towards leaving the Zen Blade in my touch guitar. It really is what they say it is. I had one more pickup I wanted to try -- a MFD split coil that I lined up and attached to some foam with double-sided tape. The poles would be off but I'd get a sense of it. But -- and this is the kind of stupid crap I do all the time -- left it to set for a few days in a place I was sure I would find it. And now I have no idea where it is. I'd chalk it up to middle age but I've been this way my whole life.

The Talman 30", 5er, is now converted too .
Thats still all super provisoric. Yet both quite good play-ready for now.
TL;DR: pics on the bottom

Don´t like the Talman too much for now. To thick a neck. .....i might change that.
and i´m nolonger used to play B-strings. But i want one Bass with a low B.
Also: has a "bad influence" to play such light, toy-like bass. / i need to keep that in mind ! really

while the 30" talman hangs better playble on my body. The "30", 4string toy feels strangly enough too short.
its super interesting to watch how the feel of basses can change and differ just by tiny details.
......these super cheap basses are the perfect objects to go thru "all that".

The headpieces are meant to get some form-work to see, with wood and carbon or so.
While the basic idea was to make them "wall hangmount accessible".

my main bass, the ibby EHB1005SMS also shown. Thats still my measure for conftability and play access ! .....yet, the toy bass has *REALLY* something to it ! ....surprise surprise.

the mounting job of the tuners was donne (by me) so lala, to say the least.
