I tested a Ampeg SVP-Pro and SVP-CL, a Warwick Quadruplet and a Hughes & Kettner Fortress. But the Trace Elliot V-Type PreAmp is still the only one, which is in my rig. I love that tone!

Now that is really interesting. That's a PCB, with soldermask, but also a turret board. I guess all the connections that would normally be made with wire on the back are instead made by PCB traces, but it can be modded or repaired pretty much like a turret board. I've never seen construction like that. Very strange, but cool.
I may have posted these before but I was wondering if someone might know. What did Sadowsky do with the capacitors?

Is that your carpet down below the SA200? My SA200 has different knobs; maybe the Japanese version.
Do you know what Sadowsky did with the capacitors? What do you think about KT88s in the Eden?

I had no idea either but if you go to that thread there is a similar Koch amp too...

OK...here's the deal... the VT300 is a design partnership between David and the folks at Koch, with whom David has had a relationship for a long time. At one point, we were the US distribution for Koch amps. Yes, there are differences between the Koch, Eden and Sadowsky amps, but it's also fair to say they are similar beasts.
And, yes, tube amps in general are cantankerous beasts. But, for those who love 'em, there's nothing better.

Tube amps *do not* have to be cantankerous beasts; and in fact I played tube amps only coming up from the 70's thru the 90's because they were all I felt like sounded good. I never, ever had one fail on me.
It's my opinion, that amps are as good as their components, and build quality, and tube vs ss has zippo to do with anything until some monkey heaves your tube amp off the truck and shatters some glass. But, that's abuse, not failure; and I've had speaker cabinets fail for that reason too.
In fact, of all the amps that have failed me on the job, it's all been in the last 5 years, and they were: Thunderfunk, Carvin, and Mesa, in order of occurance. Quality products, all.
Though the Mesa had preamp tubes, the other two were solid state. In each case, the manufacturer stood behind them well enough that I continued using each for a while before moving on...though the Mesa I still have and use; and it's failure had nothing to do with tubes.

Yup, that is my carpet (and my SA200). I have also posted that particular VT-300A photo in the past (though I got it from somewhere else).
I believe they are in a similar location as on the Eden, but they do not protrude through the sheet metal, as they do on the Eden. They may be laid horizontal, instead of vertical. I'll have to check some day.
KT88s sound just fine in the Eden. I've thought about trying them in the Sadowsky, but I'm so darned happy with those EL34's, I've never swapped them out.

Yes, as mentioned, they were both designed in conjunction with Dolf Koch, so the output sections, in particular, are quite similar. I own both of them, and I've posted some reviews/comparisons here on TB in the past. I may have mentioned the Eden connection in my original review of the SA200 in Guitar World's Bass Guitar. At any rate, the preamps are quite different, and while they do have some definite "family resemblance," they each have a very unique personality and each can do some things that the other can't.
