I was using a stereo Marshall power amp with an Alembic preamp for awhile and really learned to appreciate EL34s for bass. I definitely want to keep my Sadowsky that way, too.

I thought the KT88s might fatten up the sound of the Eden. I'm not a big fan of 6550s. Not that there's anything wrong with them. They seem to stay clean up to a higher level but then distort quickly. I just prefer 6L6 or, now, EL34 tubes because they break up sooner with a smoother curve which I feel I have more control over with my fingers.

I haven't used KT88s since I had a Sound City 150 Bass amp which was when it was new. I got it to replace a Fender Showman but it didn't really have much more volume so I traded it for an SVT. One of those that got away. Now I feel like I didn't really give it a shot. I'm still thinking about a Reeves or Hiwatt though.

I also remember reading your comparison of the two amps when I already owned the VT300 and found a new SA200, trying to justify spending $2500 on an amp I already "almost" had in the VT300. After reading your review, I decided to buy the Sadowsky and eventually sell one of them. Well, I've kept them both. They are different.

Check out the guts of my M-Pulse 600 and STVB15's (Kirk Powers) M-pulse... hint: last year Mesa replaced the mosfets in my amp.

I dig that amp.... the M pulse are creamy sounding..Looks like it now has the M6 Carbine power module.. cool.. does it sound different???

I'm sorry to report that this is not your old amp (although I gues it could be as I bought it used). I was just noticing that after getting it back from being repaired at Mesa... some of the comppnants looked quite different than what I was used to (this being my second mp600). I knew there was a pic of your m-pulse on amp guts and I just used it for comparison purposes.
