Ampeg B2RE for $50 new?

I'm actually fine. I was upset earlier, but not permanently. just slightly miffed I missed out, really. and because "that's Jimmy", he's allowed to be rude to people without any expected backlash? so...if I just a chronically unsavory board member, it would just be accepted without penalty? not to derail the thread, but I mean is this how it just "goes" around here?

Things are open to interpretation on the internet I know. I read Jimmy's post and I took 2 things from it: 1. Be realistic...keep it in perspective, it's part of being human. 2. Getting angry and verbally abusing someone won't help you get an amp for $50.
It didn't come across as rude to me.

And your rant was understandable too, especially if it took extra effort to get your order in. It came across to me as a little steam being let off, and you probably just went along with the rest of your day as planned.

So not everybody thinks you are a jerk, or that Jimmy is rude. This was a fun thread, let's not turn on each other and screw it up.

OTOH, KISS is on Family Guy, so I gotta go! :D

I know exactly what you mean...I was at the office in a meeting, came out, got on the computer, heard the buzz, ran to the site, but it was too late..

Ah well....hell, I didn't need one anyway (at least that's what my Wife said...) :smug:

Funny, but this reminds me of a case (last year or maybe 2?) where a retail company (around Christmas time) offered flat screens for something like $49.95 - 60 inch TVs....I don't remember the exact details but something like 1,000 people bought and paid for them....the company then (obviously) renegged.

Seems as though I recall the case being adjudicated and the folks who bought one got their TVs in the settlement.

But I don't recall the exact details now..

Ahh I remember that. I was going to get one too but they sold out. I wish I would find out about stuff like this more often but I'm always a little too late.

Canceled. Was hoping it was a blowout... I've snagged a few great deals from GC/MF, but this one seemed a little too good to be true. Alas, it was.
Cybersnyder,

Wait, wait, wait...I'm calling you out here...you actually jumped off your high horse and tried to take advantage of this obvious error in the system (please see quote two below)? Weren't you the morality police raining on our parade a couple of months ago regarding the Guitar Center multiple coupon deal? Because this is so much different...

Pot, meet kettle.

Haters, sour grapes, yeah right. Enjoy. I'm just the guy that will pay slightly higher prices to recoup the losses you enjoyed by exploiting a loophole in the system. I get a kick reading the justifications.

Enjoy them..

Nope. I wouldn't buy something using obvious loopholes in a system to see if I could sneak something by them. No different than sliding a pedal in my gig bag on the way out the store. They didn't find it, so why should I tell them.

Makes you wonder if selling on talkbass is such a good idea..

You can do whatever you want. Karma has a way of coming back at you though..

Speaking of careers, a database / web app programmer was probably fired. But he/she deserved it.

No jealousy involved. I'm just amazed, but I guess I shouldn't be.

Enjoy your "steals" and "deals"..

true. life goes on, I guess...

I don't mod this forum, go ask them. Jimmy and I have had some discussions in the past and he's a great guy in my forums. Not to mention, IMO, he was simply stating a fact.

If you have an issue with the way things are run here, talk to the mods privately, don't derail a thread like this.

My apologies to the OP for taking it off topic again.

Hopefully someone gets one at this price, if for nothing else the story behind the amp when you pull it out. :D

you said "pull it out".....lolerskates! :hiding: :D

Good eye, mizzou541. I noticed that too...

I didn't realize that you had your JD....Let's see if I can give you a hand here, Counselor:

Actually, it DOES imply a legally binding contract. They were sold to the customers. They then corrected themselves, which they are, indeed entitled to; (but IF they deliver ANY of the products to the customers at the aforementioned price) they ARE bound by contractual law (between the seller and the buyer) to honor ALL the orders. They, (MF), took the orders and, apparently the customers money. That, Counselor, is called an "Interstate binding faduciary contract to deliver goods". If they refuse, the customers who PURCHASED the product FOR THE AGREED PRICE would have to plead damages and the company (MF) would be required to show just cause for not fullfilling ALL the orders.

As I understand it, Mind you, I did NOT get in on the "Sale", but again, apparently there was no limit - to include time - to purchase the product at the price stated on-line. The Company (MF) after taking a number of orders simply corrected the "supposed misprint" and negated the orders (again, their perrogative) But the simply Can NOT send out a few here and there.

And I'm not worked up. I was merely asking a hypothetical.

How's that for a short answer?

I'd guess there's a written underlying disclaimer for online purchases that says something along the lines of "not responsible for typographical errors" and, that by making a purchase you agree to the terms of the underlying contract.

And you people LEAVE JIMMY ALONE! Especially you with less than 300 posts.

Dude, I'm so sorry that you went through all that effort. I did order one in case it was a blowout sale. Those do happen. I sent the below email to Musicians Friend and had them cancel the order if it was a mistake...

Waiting for an apology....

Hi,

I ordered an Ampeg B2RE yesterday, order number is:

00120100818121944656

I thought it was a blowout priced item, but it looks like it was priced in error. If it was a mistake, please cancel my order for this item. I really don't want to ripoff Musician's Friend but I don't want to miss out on a blowout price if that was the case.

Thanks!

Rich

Thank you for your recent inquiry.

I apologize about the mix up. This was an error on our page. The item actually isn’t available at this moment.

Your order has been cancelled and your card will not be charged.

Make sure you check out all the accessories to go with your bass guitar. We have all sorts of strings, cases, cables, and much more!
Just visit this link to view all of our accessories for your new purchase:

Are you completely satisfied with the service you have received today?

Please feel free to contact us at 1-800-391-8762 if you have any more questions or concerns.

We appreciate you choosing Musician’s Friend. Have a great day!

I had sent an inquiry earlier, but I mistakenly sent it to Guitar Center and not Musician's Friend which would explain why they didn't have the order number in their system. So I did the equivalent of putting an item in my cart and taking it to the customer service desk to make sure the price is correct. Again, waiting for the apology since you're "calling me out".

*EDIT* screw it, I'm reporting this to a mod. I'm not gonna derail this thread, nor will I take this crap. GL to the people that had tracking numbers.

Ok couldn't resist :D

Well crap! Paypal deducted the money from my account this morning! What's up with that? Why charge me a day after I got the cancellation?

Looks like a Phisherman's sale more and more.......Thanks Musician's Friend. Fer nuttin'
