It's his brother Daryl, lol.
Or his other brother, Daryl...

No offense, but there are a few middlemen here that can also be the problem.
Many purchsed through paypal... on their credit card.
As someone who owns a business that purchases Merchant Services from a third party, I can tell you that they themselves are typically more then 24 hour delay in each direction, just that actual service. In the case of paypal with a bankcard you now have two OTHER middle men that add onto the base 24 our minimum.
It is entirely possible that someone at MF processed your refund the best he could on his side, before you even find out it came out of your bank account.
I'm not saying it's not possible that they are delaying on these things, simply stating that you need to take into account all of the "middle-men" that cause delays as well.
I ordered one, payment cleared, and then got the back order email, and that it had been canceled.
There is such thing as HUMAN error here, people.
No harm, no foul. I'm not out any money, so i don't really care.
True, but it seems like they would be sure not to still accept payments on items they canceled due to their mistake the day before.

MF, as far as I can see, don't ship up here to Canada. I've never even been able to get a catalogue. Personally I look at this the same way I look at a local store. I pay the price asked. It's not my place as a customer to question the merchants pricing policies or structure.
Had I been able and had I wanted to take advantage of this mistake I would have taken a leaf out of Bobs' book and paid for overnight shipping. Seem such an obvious step.
Paul
That's what we did in the 90s at Music Boulevard...
Yes, this is definitely automated, and once the $$$ changes hands, there's always been a delay getting the credits.
The CC companies make a little money on the "float" interest they get in the interim, as though the money were a very short term loan.
PayPal has taken this to new heights. It takes 5 days to get money from your PP account to your bank, even though the actual transactions might take a few microseconds of time, plus whatever batch processing delays there are at each transfer (up to a day). You see the same thing with BillPay, unless you want to pay extra.
The only way to move the money faster is to have CS people handle it, which costs more money. That's what we did in the 90s at Music Boulevard, but we still had to contend with the delays on Visanet.
Hey all!
I work for Musician's Friend and can confirm that it was indeed an error. We're all human after all, and these things do happen from time to time.
For those of you that just got a generic canceled item letter and did not receive a phone number to call for the "special deal", or for anyone else on this thread that missed out on this and wants that same deal, I'll hook you up. Email me directly at [email protected] and I'll set it up for you.
This has been a fun read for me as well. Rock on
.
actually man what im upset about is they charged my creditcard AFTER they canceled the order. if it was a hold when i placed the order thats one thing but to charge after you cancel thats just shady. $50 is $50 may not be alot for you but thats a half day of work for me after uncle sam gets his piece.Sheesh, some of you guys sure get your panties in a bunch over the smallest things.
50 bucks.

You make some good points. I have heard back from them and they are getting with their accounting dept to make sure everything gets straightened out. So, I'll just chill and give them a chance.

I checked my tracking... my package is in Indianapolis! Should be here Monday!
No problem with ensuring they are doing their part, simply saying that IF they say they processed it and it's "in the system waiting to be processed" that it is entirely possibly they have done everything from their side.
