Different rigs, both are excellent. The 210HE sounds an awful lot like the early B-15 cabs, while the 210AV sounds like a mini-SVT, as you well know. Can't go wrong with either IMHO...just different flavors of Ampeg.

How would you guys characterize the PF115? Maybe that's the cab I should be looking at.

I haven't done a direct AB but the PF115 goes a little lower. They really don't sound all that different to me otherwise. Some folks say they're a little more upper mid forward, but they both sound a lot like B-15 cabs.

Up to now, I haven't really been much into Ampegs. My first amp was a VB-4 with a 2x15 cab that I thought sounded very muddy. Not really my cup of tea at all.

I'm very happy that I recently tried a PF500 and was extremely impressed with the tone and power.

Probably pick one up around Christmas time.

Sending my PF115 back tomorrow. Just did a final inspection (no foreign objects touching the cone) and did another A/B/C against the B15 double baffle cab and the B100R. No doubt something has got to be wrong - in fact, it's gotten progressively worse. It just doesn't handle any low end. Now, any note hit on the E string distorts badly when the B15 head volume is above 9:00 or the bass knob is above noon, and it shouldn't be doing that.

got my pf500/pf210HE this afternoon, and i played it for like 3 hours strait.

I haven't done that in a while. I'm glad i bought it. its alot of fun.

I still cant understand why people think its quiet, gain at 1 o'clock and master at 10-11 o'clock i can feel it in my chest lol

also this amp is the first amp where the -15 db pad is useful. ive never really had to use it. my J american deluxe active is hot and pushes it a bit too much. so its come in handy. i can get a gritty grind when i pop it out tho. so its like no distortion (pad in) and then pop it out for boom nice growl and grit... best bang for your buck out there.

yea ive seen alot of posts in the early threads, before part 2.5, i combed through these to see what peoples opinions were. and some people were saying they are too quiet, or that its not a true 500 watts or w/e. haters wanna hate i guess.

i cant imagine people sending these back like they did early on in production. (in the previous thread) these heads are great. i guess different strokes for different folks is the correct saying as always.

Yeah - I'm with you fellers. My pf350 is plenty loud. Right now I'm still running it with the 410HE with I don't bring the SVT. I've used it with larger venues with reinforcement, and played both upright and slab through that setup. I'm gettin' antsy to get the pf115he to match it up good and proper.

I love my PF500 head tonewise, but my head needs to be cranked to about 1-2 o'clock on the gain and the master volume past 2 o'clock before I get the kind of volume you describe. So yeah I have a few concerns about the gain and power stage sweep of my PF500, besides my other issue of the clip indicator stage not working on mine. Other than that I love this amp. I will say that once I get my head opened up, there is more than enough volume on tap. It can push the bejeebers out of any cab I have on hand, including my trusty old 4 ohm Peavey BW loaded 2 x 15. It's a new product line, so I'm not suprised that some folks have reported what I'd call the old proverbial teething problems of a new product line in regards to some of the heads they bought. No gripes about my PF210HE cab. It's sweet!

My PF-500 seems plenty loud when I get the volume knob above noon (and dialing the gain in right). It was causing my 10" cab to bark a little before I turned it back down. I think the volume pot just isn't linear and get's "busy" higher up. That's not a problem with me, once I figured it out, and it is dead quiet.

The Beatle bass is light and doesn't bother me. Rics are rather heavy and the upper horn always digs into me. Maybe I could deal with it these days, but it turned me off in the old days.
