Amazing collection, johnk! I knew from your previous posts that you had most of those things, but to see them all at once is overwhelming. Congrats!

Holy mother of...! I had no idea that P was both that old and all-original. Without even having played it, I'm in serious lust.

I just tested my SVT thru three of my Ampeg cabs, a 90's SVT810, an SVT610HLF and my '70 V4 cab (loaded with four deltalite 2512 series II's).

Here' the results:

810-just as you'd expect, loud, full, tight and punchy
610 (with tweeter & x-over bypassed)-almost exactly the same sounding as my 810, almost as loud & equally punchy, but with a tiny bit more mids and a little less subs.
V4 with neo 2512's- completely different than the other two. just a little louder, but less wooly (subs) than the 810 and 610 with stronger mid bass and cleaner highs (more presence). this cab reminds me of my '72 SVT straightback 8x10 cab.

i'm going to compare my three V4 cabs next as all of them have different speakers in them

Do you think a V4B would have enough power to properly push the neo 2512's? I'm seriously considering swapping out my original speakers for the neo's now but I don't have an SVT. Those speakers are rated at about 250 watts.

I've ab'd my early 70's 810's (slanted but Linden made) and 610 with the same SVT head... I absolutely DON'T get your description.

810 = loud, punchy, direct and focussed


610 = loud, woolly & woofy, and the sound seems to come from everywhere in the building (out of focus).

I hated the 610 and love the 810.

it'll easily push them. they are pretty efficient speakers.

your 8x10 is the old type with the GOOD (or at least better, likely ceramic CTS) speakers. mine is the newer 90's type and the speakers look just like the ones in my 610.

my 610 isn't wooly at all, but my SVT410HLF definitely was. i was actually quite surprised to find out that 610 (ported)sounded almost exactly the same as my sealed 810.

Me, too! I've owned three of them...brings back fond memories of backaches gone by! After my first amp, a Fender Bassman 50 (blackface) with a 2x12 cab, I had a B15S with an Altec-Lansing 15", then a V4B with a 2x15" cab, and then an SVT with the 8x10...still KIND OF like an SVT if it's tweaked well, with a set of crisp and spanky new tubes and if its biased properly (most of them around here at festivals and stuff are in an appalling state). Then I got into the REALLY ******* heavy stuff.

My back's never been the same since....
