Ampeg Rocket Bass Combos

Hey guys. I'm going to guitar center tomorrow to get rid of my Bugera bxd15. I'm thinking about getting one of the rocket bass combos. How do they compare to the rumbles loudness wise? I've owned the Rumble 100 and 500 combos and they were hit or miss with the quality. How the Ampegs compare? Thanks!
90 pages worth of info and reviews above
The new Rocket combos seem to be great for an inexpensive combo from what I've read above .
Can't ever go wrong with most any Ampeg . I've never been dissatisfied any Ampeg I've bought over the last 40 years . You have to use your ears . Tone is in the ear of the beholder .

I am biased, BUT, I was a Fender Rumble guy before I met the Rockets. Now, I am 110% Rockets. An awesome practice amp would be the Ampeg Rocket RB-112. Click on the "SGT" switch and you will notice a BIG boost. An amp to play out? Rocket 210 and purchase the Portaflex 115HF cab. BOOM!

My band uses IEMs so I'm just going to be using this for practice and light gigging.

Hey I like that RB combo. I plan on getting rid of my Bugera tomorrow and getting the RB-112.

I think you will like the RB-112- it will have XLR out, and effects loop- 12 is the new 15 lol :)

I wanted a 15 because I missed my old Mesa Diesel cab I sold when I moved West eight years ago ;)

I almost got that Bugera…it looked like a nice amp, but some things just seemed….off. The weird shape and over 50lb really killed it for me. I’m glad I was patient, and got in on the Ampeg. :bassist::bassist:

Don't get me wrong I really like the Bugera, but the carpet, weight, and the fact that I really don't play it anymore since my band has gone to IEMs really has me wanting a lighter combo. It's going to sit in my music room 95% of the time. I'll probably use it for band practice (our drummer uses an alesis strike pro electric drum set and we all use DI boxes ran to one powered monitor). So now we don't have to get super loud at practice.

I'm not sure that anyone has compared Rumble vs Ricket side-by-side for loudness. They're probably similar or the same.

It's too early to tell quality but there were about 2 or 3 reports of an amp shipped with loose wires or screws that needed tightening. So far it seems to me the Rocket Bass will be fine.

For your purpose the RB-112 will probably perform well.

Got the itch to figure out the buzzing DI on my RB-210 again.

Has anyone else encountered this? My workaround is to crank the amp master volume to limit interface input, but I'm hoping to find a relatively simple fix or find out it's something I can get taken care of on warranty. Ampeg folks wanted me to take it to a tech (makes sense) but tech shop said if it's bad design I'll still get charged for the diagnostic (not a show stopper but not ready to put it down for a week+ yet :bassist:).

Did some tests a while back with @R2Bass but definitely would like to see if anyone else has experienced this. Some youtubers responded that they had no issues at all.

TLDR: Finding an RB-210 for immediate purchase may be difficult due to wait times. I did find a 115 though.

With the death of my poor ancient Peavey 110 (whose 15-year-old electronics were killed by a DOD Carcosa and a Fender Meteora's active pickups), I went looking for a RB-210. Alas, my area seems to be out of them, and Sweetwater was out of them as well. So I settled for a 115 from Sweetwater (I'm not playing gigs anytime soon). After talking to Chuck Levin's in DC, they gave me a "two to four week" date for a 210. Sweetwater was similar with a mid-April date, though the Sweetwater guy warned me that the ETA could change t he infamous supply chain problems.

Yeah I'm sure it's the same.

Well I ended up ordering the RB-112. I was able to try the RB-110 in store and was impressed with the overall build and sound quality. It seemed sturdier than the rumbles. I played through an Acoustic B100C and B50C. With passive basses (Paranormal Jazz and a CV P) I wasn't impressed with the the overall volume coming out of these combos. I think I made the right decision. I can't wait to get it in!

I picked up a 108 as a new bedroom amp, I'm blown away by tone and sheer volume for an 8", it looks like it will be a permanent bedroom afixture!

My gig rigs consist of HSVT-Cl w/ SVT-212 (or an Ashdown ABM-600 for the lighter schlep) and Micro VR with 2 of the SVT-210AV cabinets, I'm kind of feeling maybe getting the 112 or the 210 and trading the Micro VR double stack in.

Yampeg have nailed the Rocket series.

I found myself that the RB112 has better dramatic character tone shaping which more notable to my ear than RB115 when SGT and ultra Hi engage.

I tweak the EQ for clean tone along with ultra hi engage, when I need the "Ampeg Heft ", just engage the SGT button.

Above setting are my personal favourite meanwhile has no volume change once engage.

No regret sold the RB115 and back to RB112.=

Very nice! How loud does the RB112 get? Does it get as loud or louder than a Rumble 100c? I would think it would sound louder and more bassy due to the bigger enclosure. Also I thought long and hard about getting the RB115, but ultimately decided on the RB112. Is the RB115 noticeably louder than the RB112? I know they are both the same watts (100), but with a different speaker. Thanks!
