Ampeg Rocket Bass Combos

From the manual.
Bass: +13/–21 dB @ 40 Hz
Mid: +16/–10 dB @ 500 Hz
Treble: +12/–16 dB @ 4 kHz

D'Oh! Probably could have started there...

I insert a 3-band parametric pedal into the effects loop for more control over higher-than 500 hz mids.

The kit I'm building is a 1-band parametric, and can be configured for low-mid (34-340 Hz and 0.22-2.2 kHz) or mid-high (0.22-2.2 kHz and 1.5-15 kHz) selection.

I'm tempted to try and socket the relevant capacitors but I'm wondering if it'll be too tall.

Still considering a RB as my current combo is dying...

How durable is the fabric on these? Felt fairly flimsy in person but curious to hear from owners
As durable as any other fabric on an amp. If you’re going to transport the amp often or if you have a cat, you might invest in a cover. For the RB-112:
Ampeg
Sweetwater

+1 on the cover- looks smart too. Here’s my RB-115 and cover.

The cargo pouch is a nice plus.

Only been able to test the 115 and 110. Think I'm going to order the 112. Features of the 115 but little cheaper and hopefully little tighter sound, 115 was a bit boomy.

Not really worried about the watts, just going to use for practice probably.

I am waiting for reviews like yours and a friend of mine before I decide on a 115 or 112.

I do know that my Rumble 115 cab is an earthquake simulator in my studio with a 20T ;).

Will definitely report back. Going through GC so can always return if I don't like. The 115 sounds good, just had a little more low-end than I wanted. Wish I could test the 112 but haven't seen it anywhere in person locally.

Thank you, neighbor! Will be looking for your report back, please include your music preference as that counts to what one would be looking for (least it does to me) ;).

You wont regret to choose the RB112 ! I been bought the RB112 and meet hiss issue , exchange with RB115. Too rumble-boomy to my taste , sold after couple months and purchase a RB112 again.

Very nice! How loud does the RB112 get? Does it get as loud or louder than a Rumble 100c? I would think it would sound louder and more bassy due to the bigger enclosure. Also I thought long and hard about getting the RB115, but ultimately decided on the RB112. Is the RB115 noticeably louder than the RB112? I know they are both the same watts (100), but with a different speaker. Thanks!
Well, I had both (115 & 112) I thought the 112 was louder than the 115. Now, that was WITHOUT a cab hooked up to the 115. Personally, I read somewhere that the 115 is not 100 watts and then you get the full 200 with a cab. The second part is true, you do get the full 200 watts with a cab, but I don't believe it's 100 watts alone. Whereas, the 112 is. Keep in mind though, you do have a DI with the 112 but you can't hook a cab up to it.

Not sure if this video is considered old/outdated news since the owner's manuals came out.

I really don't know how wattage distribution to the internal speaker works exactly with/without an extension cabinet attached to these combos, but listen to what Dino says between 6:40 and 7:20 here.

Somebody who knows much more than I do will likely add something technical. :)

So yesterday I played at a TV station and brought my RB-112. It performed beautifully and really sounded great with my P Bass w/ flats. It cut through our mix perfectly.
Did you run it direct? I've been pleasantly surprised at the quality of recordings I've heard going direct. Did not feel the same about the DI's on the BA amps I had.

I wish I could say this for the RB-210. It has a very noticeable buzz. It's manageable with cranking the amp volume to limit mixer/interface gain, but it's still there.

Love the amp, and I ended up getting a SCR-DI for portability anyway, but I wish the 210 DI was as dead quiet as the 112 and 115 I tried.

Too bad about that buzz. My SCR-DI served me well as a compact solution while in the RV. Now with the PF20T, I want to compare it with the amp, amp mic'ed and the B15 vst plugin in Reaper, just for fun.
