Ampeg Rocket Bass Combos

What I would like to see Ampeg do now is actually come out with much higher wattage BA-series combos like the ones that were just discontinued only with like a 400 watt 115,210,212,410 option etc. And have the svt higher quality cabs And top notch speakers that can handle the full 400 watts going to the internal speaker/speakers without farting out. I loved the ampeg ba-300 and ba-600 amps except for the rattling and farting out issues they had. I want to see ampeg keep up with the likes of GK,Mark Bass etc with higher watt age top notch pro combos.

I'll bet you'd like the price to stay the same, too :D

If you want to be that super loud, a combo of any kind is not for you. I've owned a Markbass combo and played plenty of GK stuff over the years, and they all start farting out at approximately the same volume levels. You might get a little more out of a neo-loaded cab before fartout, but not much more.

If you're serious about what you'd like to see in the way of new gear, go tell it to the mountain. Head on over to ampeg.com and look for their ideascale page. Sign up and chat away with the next great idea. Ya never know, they might listen.

I just got back home from playing a festival gig. I put my RB-112 on top on an old Carvin loudspeaker that wasn't being used. All I can say is wow! I had the following settings (SGT not engaged, Volume about 3/4 of the way up, Bass at 10 oclock, Mids and Treble at 2 oclock) and I could actually hear myself! I could hear it loud and clear over all other instruments standing in front of it. I'm super happy with the little amp! It stayed at 3/4 volume the entire show (about 3 hours). The back got a little warm (not hot or anything), but just slightly warm to the touch. I tested the speaker when I got back home and it sounds nice and broken in now. It has passed the test for me! I'm really in love with this amp!

OK so somehow the Rocket Blast line flew under my radar & I saw them for the first time online last week (or the week prior? No concept of time anymore lol) I went into Guitar Center to try out an Ampeg RB-115, been needing a decent sounding practice combo..

I ended up buying the Squier 70s P that I picked up to test the amp out. The 115 sounded GREAT but the P sounded sweet too, and was mistagged for $100 less than it should’ve been. Didn’t need another bass but, yeah. Lol

Fast forward to this morning— went back to give the 115 another spin with the intention of buying it.. unfortunately it was GONE & I swear I choked up a lil til I saw a lonely RB-108 hiding in the corner.. picked up the nearest P and gave it a go. Not quite the same but still sounded GREAT! Figured I’ll only be using it at the house so why not just go for it?! And here it sits, next to the cat’s toys & the bass I mentioned (post modifications!)

Good stuff. I was never a fan of the BA line so I’m glad to see & hear the RBs knocking it out of the park.

Quick question for the experts- I’m slowly catching up on the thread, so it’s maybe already been said but does anyone know what kind of speaker’s in the 108? The manual says maybe Eminence but is also kinda vague about it.. simply curious to know for sure. This thing’s blowing my mind at how great it sounds for such a small package!!

Are GC has RB112 in stock ? If yes, i suggest exchange the RB108. Rb112 Sound just great without money spend on modified.

Hope help.

Currently mine has same EQ setting like yours, but with Ultra High engage, and sometime need SGT engage (Grid on 1st point, Lvl on 4.5 point). Love the Rb112 tone more than previous Tech21 VT200 combo myself.

Did you have the bass cut to 10 o'clock due to it distorting/farting out at that volume? I'm assuming the ultra low wasn't engaged either if that was the case?

I cut the bass because I didn't want it to fart out. It wasn't farting out at 12 oclock, but I didn't want to take that chance. The ultra low wasn't engaged. The RB112 definitely surpassed my expectations volume wise. It sounded really good!

Gotcha. I have a RB-112 myself and I like it for the most part. It's got a bit of a hiss that seems to be linked to the treble eq. When I cut the treble all the way, the hiss disappears. The hiss gets louder the more I turn up the knob. It's not terrible, but definitely noticeable, IMO. Overall though, nice little combo. :)

I had my eyes on a 115 & there was a 112 there as well— figured I really just needed a small combo (my main rig’s a GK 400RB + RBI > Subway 112/115 stack) so the 108 hit the spot.
I would’ve prolly got the 110 if it were there, but no biggie. Holy smokes that was a lotta gibberish numbers I just typed LOL :D

Yeah mine hisses a little bit too. Not noticeable when I'm playing.
