Ampeg Serial Number Date Code

I had a 45 day return policy on the 2007 SVTCL. At high gain and master with midrange turned up I was getting a very nasty buzz. Rather than troubleshooting and spending more I decided to trade up to a brand new Amp. Christmas discounts and what not it was too hard to refuse.

BTW: All the screws were loose -Almost falling out loose? When I heard the damn thing rattling as I moved it, I was extremely nervous and disappointed. I went around and tightened them all and it seems to be ok, but OMG on the quality control and any pre_shipment inspections. I'm sure they would tell me they vibrated loose through the shipping process, but I say Hmmmm to all that ... C'mon guys - another 1/4 turn and they all would have fell out. If the preamp and lower board would have dropped during shipping it would have been ugly and it would have been coming back. I've purchased $100.00 electronics that stayed together through shipping. $1,800.00 Amp and $200.00 to ship it, they better have someone there who can tighten screws. Grrrrrr !!! okay- rant over ...

Super tiny print on the back of Amp I found this stamp. Amp purchased in 2015, stamped 2012?
- Anyway, what a beautiful sounding amp. I searched the world over looking for this tone.

Hi all,

I've read all 9 pages of this thread but am still not sure what I have.

Ampeg SVT-810E w/ single 1/4" jack/plate.

Serial: I81EJ10021

"E" is country code, though post #3 only shows codes U, D, W, Y.

As far as I can tell I have a 1997 810E. If correct, what speakers were commonly used in that time frame? Also trying to determine if I hook a 500 Watt Eden Amp to it, will bad things happen?

Thanks for any knowledge!

You have a 1997 810e. Will be fine with a 500w amp. Power handling was 800w before fartout and 1200w before the voice coils blow by then. Speakers would be Eminences made especially for the 810e and they sounded really good. I'm not good on country codes, though. It's a lot less important for cabs than amps.
