Ampeg SGT-DI

Last week i saw one in france , but it's already gone. I just looked for it but the sell very fast i guess. Paul bassmatters had one in stock in nl

Ah OK. Bax and Thomann announced it on release date w/ expected delivery 2-3 weeks but that every week a week waiting time was added rather than reduced. It is now “in several months” or “unknown”. Strange.

Thank you, that’s nice! But including customs and taxes it will be quite expensive, is my experience. I will wait, I am just curious why there appears to be no stock at this side of the pond.

Can't speak to the SGT shortage but, here in the US, the PF-350 has been on backorder since last fall. That is after I contacted them and they said shipments in Feb./23. I gave up and moved on to another amp manufacturer.

I was lucky to get an open-box SGT when the initial US supply dried up.

Apparently, there is a problem and it is not in Houston ;).

You'll be paying taxes on it either way. Is customs really so bad there? In the UK it's about 2.5%, which is pretty much nothing.

If I were to buy @johnk_10 's SGT, it would be £284 ($360 USD) + £56 VAT + £7 customs = £347, not including shipping. It costs £369 new at Andertons. If I was in the market for an SGT-DI and didn't want to wait months for a new one, I'd seriously consider it.

I should add that the SGT-DI is a great product and well worth the wait. Maybe that is why Ampeg/Yamaha is slow on continuing older products.

If you have an existing amp or FOH to run it through, do you need anything else?

Really excited about this pedal!

I apologize if I missed this somewhere earlier in the thread (I tried searching), but with the SGT circuit engaged in B15 mode, can you get a clean sound without any overdrive if the grit knob is turned all the way down?
Yes, with the grit at 0 its a clean boost with the tone profile of a very clean b15. You really need the grit up at 9 o'clock to get a real b15 tubey kind of sound.

Check woodbrass , they say if you order today before 12u30 , they deliver next day
Thanks for the headsup! I did not know this French store. Ordered it after your post on Thursday, got it yesterday. What an amazing upgrade from my SCR-DI! I was worried about the lacking FX loop, but it works fine with a flanger in front.

Finally picked one up to give it a go.

I really doubt that the issues with stock are really Yamaha's own doing. Parts shortages are industry wide, but Yamaha tends to have a relatively good handle on things. If they can't get the part, likely nobody else can.
I called Ampeg on a Backorder grille ordered 6 months ago, they said its the supply chain. I noticed that a lot of their products are showing up out of stock on the website...good thing CL is filled with old Ampeg stuff cause they build like a tank, you have to actually try to kill one of the SVT's in order to kill it....

Helix/SGT makes for a nice combination.

I know it's maybe off topic a bit, but... That looks like a Pedaltrain Metro 24 for your board, yeah? Been thinking about a single row that's a bit wider to build a dedicated board for my main band. Good to see it in context with pedals on it for reference. How are you powering it?

It’s actually a Metro Max. I’ve got an Eventide PowerMax (basically a Cioks DC7) underneath it, mounted with the Cioks Grip thingie. Fits perfectly.

I have not used Ampeg Suite. I have used Helix Native and I have considered the Brainworx plugins. I'm also considering buying the SGT-DI more of r live use (although

If you already have an interface, you could always try this [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] (make sure you can just do a month/read the terms). It's not the Ampeg suite - but it would be a good way to check the sounds before a big purchase of the SGT-DI or the plugin. Also, don't discount Helix Native as far as plugins go. The Ampegs are good. If you own a Helix or HX stomp you can get a significant discount.

(I'm sure both the Ampeg suite and Helix Native borrow from each other). (Either way you get B-15 options with Native or the Brainworx plugins - that would be a nice option to me personally)

Haven’t been able to find a comparison, but for anyone that has both the SGT and the Ampeg Suite, if you had to pick just one, which way would you go and why? I’ really want the SVT sound for practice and home recording, and the suite is currently on sale…
