I sometimes have plugged into just the top 4 tens only.... smaller rooms when I already had the 810 in my vehicle from the previous night. A little less boom than using all 8 speakers, works well sometimes.

Your amp is not an "8 ohm amp." It's a solid-state head that is more than happy to drive 4 or 8-ohms. It will put out more power at 4 ohms (we measured 568w continuous at 4 ohms, versus 377w into an 8-ohm load). Here's a link to our Fusion 550 review from Bass Gear Magazine issue #3.

The one that shipped with your GK head is a 4-conductor cable that is to be used with GK cabs that have the bi-amp Horn Management System (HMS) option. It may or may not fit into the speakon jack of a non-HMS equipped cab (like the Ampeg), since they are probably using the 2-conductor speakon jacks (though sometimes, companies will use the 4-conductor jack, but only wire it up as a 2-conductor input). You can use the 2-conductor cables with the GK just fine, but you can't use those cables to run the HMS bi-amp setup.

Clear sound with nice brights? Have you played through an Ampeg cab before?
They would not be my first choice if that's what your tonal desires are.

It doesn't surprise me that it fits. However, I have had a few cabs where the 4-conductor cable would not fit.

I've been seeing in several places people asking about where their 810 was made. Mine clearly said "made in America" on the input panel. Just wanted to throw that out there.

If it fits and sound comes out, you can use it.

You can disassemble the cable to find out, but I would not bother, since it works.

Daisy-chaining to another cab.

Edit: Don't do that with your head, though. You'd want an amp that is capable of driving a 2-ohm load.

If you connect to the upper and lower 1/4 jacks using dual mode only, then yes, it would be okay. But, DO NOT connect them both using either the speakon jacks or the two lower 1/4" jacks, as you will be connecting the outputs of the two amps, and that is bad...

it is not possible to connect the Bassman with speakons. It's from 1974. I think the speakons weren't even invented then

so, GK ----> lower
Bassman ----> upper.


I wonder how would it sound like. Will try it.
I just think the Bassman wouldn't be as loud as the GK...

I am buying one of these.

I can get used USA model (2002) for cca 500E, or a new Made in China model for 1000E.


I think Ill rather go with the USA model, but I haven't tried it.

I tried the Chinese and I like it a lot.
As I've read here, the USA models seems to be better, so I guess I must like it even better then, right?

Do you have a chance to do a A/B test?

Bassman is 4 ohm only. Is that OK (paired with the GK)?
