The main purpose of Jeffs stay here on tb was of course to make pr for The Players School. Therfore he will be back. When allowed :) I personally miss his precense here. A great resource for all of us. But he to should be able to follow the simple rules on this forum..its not that hard.

I'm basically in agreement with eminentbass' post except that the post that Jeff got him permanently banned with was a reflection of his humour (yes i'm English :D). Also I think the point made that many of the pros without their own forums may be on the DB side, which explains why Jeff is more 'controversial' amongst bass guitarists, his methods would likely be undisputed under a trombonist etc or older instrumentalists (pretty sure Ray Brown or Oscar Peterson didn't practice with a metronome) but IMO bass guitar education has been diluted (albeit in a less extreme way) the same way as guitar... Basically my opinion is invalid but i will say that before Jeff's threads I 'read' TAB and almost disregarded notation and almost focused on 'chops' as opposed to music... I think I lost my point somewhere but yeah haha. ignore.

Gee-I got busy and couldn't show up here for 2 weeks (work, finals, flood, etc.) and now this?:confused:
I don't see the problem-I vote to bring him back.
FWIW, I've modified some of my teaching methods with his materials and approaches and they work great. I don't only use them but I really respect his opinions and think he adds a great deal to TB. This place is like a friend of mine dubbed it-"The Sandlot" or maybe "The 7th Street Basketball Court". There are amazing experts as well as someone whose cousin saw someone who met someone on the Harlem Globetrotters and therefore is a Basketball Expert. It's all over the map here and that's Talkbass for you.
It's good to have Pros and Educators with this much depth post stuff.
Just my opinion here....

Wow! Although even I was surprised (but more amused) by Jeff's testing of the "establishment's" adherence to it's own rules (which it didn't) with his opening post, which was juvenile but within the rules by design (his own explanation), after 4 pages of posts with a 90% or better aproval/agreement in response posts, he still gets banned... :hmm:

And knowing who you are and your extreme expertise in this particular field, the field this site is supposedly for, your opinion should carry some weight around here....
....but it probably won't.

I for one regret not being able to ask questions about bass guitar technique, or ask other specific musical advice from Jeff Berlin. Could we have a thread where just that could happen?

The same old actors always seem to instigate the usual philosophic discourse. Whose purpose does that serve?

Not that those topics are unimportant, just not important to me when I want to ask Jeff a bass guitar question.

As a guy who is neither a music educator, or an educated musician I have not interjected mush into the Jeff Berlin threads. However reading what he has to say has made me look at where I am and where I want to be with music. Jeff has pushed me to want to be a musician, not just a player. Mr. Moderator Tear down that wall!!! :hiding: oh, wait?? :bassist:
