I don’t know how popular they were at their peak, but they have managed to get all videos of them that come up on a search of just their band name on YouTube to about a 5:1 ratio of fight video to music audio / video. I did listen to one of their songs posted 15 years ago. Not a terrible tune, but I’m not terribly disappointed I missed them in their “prime”, or maybe they are just entering their prime with the fight performance era….
They kinda suck but were big in the aforementioned Pitchfork hipster era, along with bands like And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead and Interpol.
Possibly but the guitarist who fell backwards on his amp and the other guitarist next to him didn't look or act like it was part of the show. The dude who fell looked stunned and the other dude next to him got a disgusted (crap, not again) look and walked away. IDK Maybe the band was just doing the "safety curtain strut". LOL Whatever it was I'd be pissed if I paid money for tickets and saw that happen.
Jeez. I’ve seen episodes of Jerry Springer more entertaining than that.

Was hoping we'd finally get some video of 51PRI's band. Disappointed.
I've actually been on stage when a fight broke out between bandmates. It was 2 decades ago, we were actually recording a live album at the time.
One vocalist attacked the other. My main initial concern was that they didn't fall on my upright bass sitting on the stage next to them. I made sure they didn't and broke up the fight.
It took a couple of weeks for everyone to cool down, but that band lasted another 2 years and went on to do some pretty big things.

I played in a power trio with 2 brothers who were legitimate nerd geniuses, and they would squabble as close brothers are known to do. In the context of the band, they never had a harsh word to say to me, but they would criticize every mistake the other one made when we played.
Then one night at a gig, the drummer brother did a roll on the snare that he usually does on the toms. After the song ended, the guitar player brother walked to the front of the drum kit, reached over the kit and grabbed a drum stick out of his brother's hand, and hit one of the toms with it really hard to emphasize the "right" way to play the song. Unfortunately, he hit it so hard that the stick came out of his hand and nailed his brother right between the eyes. His brother stood up, reared back and punched him across the drum kit, right in the schnozzle. He fell on his ass, started laughing, then he stood up and we finished the set. One of those 2 crazy brothers is still one of my closest friends to this day.

It sounded like the guitarist who was told to unplug and leave was too drunk to be on stage. Drunks kill bands.

Well, back when men were men, the Dorsey brothers duked it out on stage more than once - but they both knew how to throw a punch and take one, too. None of this schoolyard pushing that's more for effect than pain.
Or, there was always Jelly Roll Morton's way to settle disputes about how a song should go - just pull out a big shiny pistol and lay it on top of the piano - "it goes this way, fellas!"
