Anone actually satisfied with their rig?

My rig delivers what I need, Genz Benz Shuttle 9 and Uber 4x10 through Zoom B3 using SVT sim.
Its the basses I cant decide on,got 9 already after only having one for nearly 15 years, and still not found what I want,(or think I want).

And the older I get the worse I get !!!!
maybe thats just a sign of deafness !!!!! :p

I'd be satisfied IF I could get my good bass (Lakland Decade) here without having to pay Customs (who charge 20% of the declared value) & without flying back to get it.

I was totally satisfied except with the possibility of the need for an extra cab for larger rooms until I had to sell to pay bills due to some serious and unexpected loss of income. Even when I went to NAMM shows or hung with KJung :D I never played anything that sounded better to me than a Sadowsky MV5 with single coils thru a Thunderfunk 550 into my LDS 2 X 10 cab. Now I have all kinds of gas. But if I got a boat load of cash I'd replace with the same stuff. :hmm:

Sure, I'm satisfied with all my rigs. The core of my main rig is my Bergantino CN212. Pretty much any head sounds good on that (with few exceptions not to be mentioned among Christians). I favor the GK MB800 and MB Fusion 800, but the Blue Soul and Prodigy also rule on that cab. I gigged the Prodigy on it last Friday night, and it was great. Even though it's "only" 250 watts, I didn't have any trouble getting the volume I needed for a small medium-sized venue (restaurant/bar). My other amps are 650 to 800 watts, but I doubt I ever use half of that except outdoors. Then I'm using an AE410 cab in most cases.

Ha, the original poster asks if his Hartke combo is good enough... Considering James Genus uses nothing but a little Hartke combo on Saturday Night Live, and he sounds as though every note is crafted by angels of bass tone, I'd say it could do the job :) Of course my good home speakers, a good sound guy and oh yeah, a good player doesn't hurt.

I'm personally always tinkering. I only use one bass almost all the time, my Schack that I've totally modded, but the amp is tougher. I've always loved a pristine, dry, solid state tone, but never quite got that out of gear available years ago. Now with the class D trend and super tightly built speakers, I'm finally starting to hear the tone I've always wanted. I currently use an old solid state Yamaha PB1 pre, an older crown power amp from the made in USA days, and a bag end 15. It's very pleasant, band mates and sound guys love it, but it's heavy to drag around and not crisp (no tweeter). I played a Phil Jones combo and some Epifani/Bergantino combinations recently, and the TC 750 head, I just can't decide. They're all so good, so tight, not at all brittle, exactly what I want, it's just a matter of taste now. Funny thing is some amps are actually too crystal clear for me now, I thought I would love EA heads based on a few reviews and friends' recommendations, but I found them to be harsh and unforgiving. I told the sales guy I don't think I'm a good enough player for EA :) one of these years... I wish I knew where to try out a Thunderfunk... Make it stop!!

I'm more than happy with the gear I've bought.

My main rig is a TH500 through a CN212.

I can also add an AE112 and use my Thunderfunk TFB750 or use all 3 AE112 cabs.

Whichever combination I take out works well with my Lull PJ5 or my Lakland 55-94.

This lot reproduces my fingers in a great way. I could sound different but I don't think I could sound better.

Always a passive Fender J user, my 1983 Ibanez Musician active p/j with 3 band eq. and dead ground wounds get the call now for versatility. The ground rounds still have a bit of spank available when needed. Kind of an anchor but with a wide strap, it's bearable.

Lots of great tones through any decent back line rig by using bass controls(lots of cut/boost available), foam/hand muting with either pick or pluck. Also, the blend control works well along with being able to solo either pickup. Left hand placement also makes for additional tonal options.

I have a 20w tube 1x15 combo and a couple of Sunn amps/cabs available otherwise,

I have an older mult-effects unit that I need to get into the signal path and an interest in a MM Big Al SSS (that's Joe Nerve's fault). :) And a P-Bass just because I've never had one and they sound so cool.

Otherwise, I'm happy..except to keep learning more tunes, slap better, cop more finger funk style and be able to sight read. Also, keep strumming my acoustic 6 string every day. Oh yeah...and to replace my laptop to build up a basic home studio.

I can biamp the hartke with two amps that go down to 4 ohms separately, I can use the boogie with one cab at 4 ohms, or both cabs down to 2 ohms. The amps have very different voices so im not stuck with a voice I dont like.
It only took 30 years of research!

Yep, I am.

ACG Graft Finn (5-string passive PJ - built to my specs, so if I wasn't satisfied it'd be my own fault) with Circle K balanced strings (.136 B).

Zoom B3 - gives me all the effects and amp models I need, given that I run direct and don't use an amp.

Would I change anything? Well, I might consider trying different strings, or I might not. Just to see if I've already got the best strings for me.

(I do have a fretless on order to satisfy my urge to own one and try it out properly - that may go through a few string changes, but I'm not counting it as part of my main rig yet.)

by the way, I'm still very very happy with my gear, and, referring to the Thunderfunk and the two basses I have at the moment, I have been for a while (years actually).

I like em, don't plan to sell em.

I don't feel I'm always in search for the tone I'm missing, the simple fact is that I'm a true passionate of bass and gear in general.

If others don't, it's fine.

My cousing plys in one of the busiest bands in Indianapolis... he has an old "boner" Fender P that he bought new in the early 90s, a Dean Edge with EMGHZs and active electronics, and a Washburn P stye from the late 80s... he plays them through a GK Backline 210 with a Hartke ext cab... He is easily one of the best bassists and all around musicians I have ever heard and his entire setup probably cost $2,000. He sounds absolutely great. Meanwhile, I have all this money in gear and I play A LOT less than he does...That being said, I think I am pretty much to the point of finally being totally happy with my gear... Genz Contour Stack for small gigs... Mesa M6 Carbine 212 combo for large gigs... G&L JB, heavily modded Fender Amer Std Precision, Custom Built fretless in progress, custom-built Precision in progress...

the only thing I would switch is the 2x15 for another B410. Might happen this summer aftet I graduate

I've constantly been looking for something, with no end in sight, but right now, I can't think of anything that I'd change. If I ever switch bands or if my needs change, I'll carry on!
