Anone actually satisfied with their rig?

Still working on it. When I had an old SVT head going through 2 2X15 "Baby SVT" cabs my sound was the best I've ever had, but my back hated it. Still working on getting a sound I like as much through a rig that weighs considerably less. Currently I have a Boogie D-180 that weighs at least 30 pounds less than the SVT and I'm checking out cabs. I ordered a TC Electronic RS212, if I like it I'll get a second cab and see how it goes.

Oh Heck yes - for the rig - MarkBass 12" Combo and Schroeder 1212L cab. 3 high-power 12s and 500W let's me play anywhere, sounds great and is extremely portable. Other bass players just shake their heads in wonderment when they hear (and feel) it.

For the bass - That is harder. My USA P really has the great sound and quality, but I'm leaning towards 32" scale now.

im happy with amps. the B15NC (2x15) and the V4B with 410 are about all i could hope for.

Any bass i plug into that B15 sounds great. The ric and the pbass are my current favs, dont plan on ridding myself of them anytime.

as for pedals, that is the next saga, definitely not satisfied in that department. this is the first time for quite a while that i am not GASSING for a bass or an amp.

You see, the secret to being satisfied with the gear you have is to simply stop playing it. Otherwise, you'll never be satisfied.

Hell, I have 5 wah pedals from when I was looking for the tone, all dunlop--this pretty much sums it all!

well said.. the more I play a single bass.. through a single amp, the more I want to switch my setup.. one thing is for sure.. Ampeg.. Eden, etc, etc.. they are ALL good.. and none is really, to me, better than the other.. so I enjoy switching up my gear (existing) each time I play out.. I even discover new things/nuances when doing so.

Every time I add to my rig, I think I'm about to get "my" tone set. Then I add it, and I get closer, but am still missing a piece.

Current rig:
Warwick Custom Shop Thumb BO
Mesa-Boogie M6 Carbine
SansAmp RBI
Ampeg 810
(thats the important stuff)

When I played the mesa at the store, it sounded perfect. Plug into my cab, it sounds super middy. So now I'm thinking about switching cabs. Also, a compressor is on the horizon. HOPEFULLY then I'll have "my" tone...but who the hell knows?

I'm totally satisfied with all the different rigs I can put together out of the gear I currently have. Does that count?

I haven't bought anything new in over two years, and I'm not shopping for anything other than some parts to fix things that are broken.

Heh. You're right, over the past 50-odd years Madison Avenue has used mass media to change public behavior. It used to be that the middle class considered excess consumption to be tacky, but for decades now we all love our stuff, and think it's OK to go into debt to get stuff we don't really need.

That said: if you can afford extra stuff, then there isn't a big problem... the spending is especially helpful in this down economy.

As for me: I'm satisfied with all my stuff, and I'd be satisfied with less stuff... but I like variety. I could get by on just one five string P-bass (with another as backup), but in addition I have one that's strung with flats, another with J-style pickups, another with a Music Man style pickup... you get the idea.

By that same token I like to have both backup and variety with my amp rigs. Also, the versatility to cover different sized gigs: I try not to bring my 6x10 cab to corporate/wedding gigs. :ninja:
