I've had my share of ups and downs in the music biz, met my share of wackos, but I wonder how far down the rabbit hole a musician has to go, and how disturbed he must become, before he feels compelled to express his disappointment and disgust and publicly vent with such dark humor.

Do these people, in similar dark fits of hopelessness, also set their instruments on fire and toss the flaming carcasses of a cliff in a symbolic middle finger to the cosmos for the unfair and harsh treatment they received in their thwarted attempts at success?

I truly feel a little sad for these folks.

Until I go to those extremes, I guess I'll feel like I've been fairly lucky, relatively speaking.

I think you're from a different generation than this guy.

Venting, snark, rage, humor, sarcasm and parody on the interwebz are all accepted and not extreme in the least. ;)

This guy probably chuckled a couple times while typing and that was about it. No drama whatsoever.

Yea, no tellin' what's going on there, but odds are the ad will get responses from people who swing that way. In which case; problem solved. Just save me 2 seats near the back for the fist gig. If It's really bad i wanna be near the exit...

Oh, I see the humor in it (or the attempt, at least). It's just so dark and to me reveals some deeper levels of disappointment and hopelessness. And we've seen it so many times, it's kind of trendy by now, so it's also become cliche and unoriginal.

To each his own, I just hope my music never becomes that disappointing to me.

No offense, but you don't get it. The poster is (probably) not bitter or disappointed about music. They are passionate about music to the point of making up situational satire, and posting it on a "stage" where they can be sure the target audience will (probably) get the joke. It's mimicry/pantomime satire.
Humorists have a long and perilous history of pushing boundaries to find laughs. The web just provides a novel space for a new form of modern comedy.
I don't think this particular joke is that funny, but that's pretty clearly what this is.... A joke.
