dissonant... I get it. It's a bit of art. Art for arts sake. Don't have to give a reason why, it just exists. It's irrelevant whether someone likes or dislikes it in the grand scheme of things. He made it, it exists.

Interesting the background is a dry scrubby bush scene, and the foreground is a person in an orange jumpsuit.

Seems like he's playing it like he would play to a stadium audience; with lots of energy and visual presentation, putting accuracy second. He's always been more about energy and attitude than precision when it comes to live stuff. He probably could have stood to put an extra bit of work on this before recording, but it's not like he's undermining what he stands for here.

In terms of questionable Fender bass demos, i'd rank Duff McKagan's demo of the American Professional P bass below this one any day. At least Flea is going for it here.

His playing outside of rhcp stuff has been off for a long time. National anthem. Attempts at classical, erc. Seems to still be a ble to rock old rhcp stuff, but there seems to be a reason their new stuff is so un groovy.

Come on guys. It's Flea. What you see is what you get. This video isn't made to show the tone of the bass. In fact, it sounds just like how Flea sounds. I think the video does it's job. Leave the "Hey guys!...If you like what you see, just tap the subscribe button at the bottom of your screen!" demo videos for the other guys. This is Flea. The man that put bass guitar on the map for millions of kids like me back in the late 80s early 90s. I'm forever grateful.

This bass is cooler when Sadowsky makes them - special order but they’ve been around for decades. Photos circa 2012 and 1988, respectively. They also didn’t sound like they were being thrown down cement staircases because the guys playing them were capable of playing bass in a manner that was pleasant to listen to.

This was horrible I don't understand why it's so difficult for companies to demo products you can keep the Flea video but also have someone demo the bass normally so we can actually hear what it sounds like.

Not sure what to say about that. I like Flea’s energy.

There is another YT vid of this bass by a guy in a store thats worth viewing. I didnt really care for the sound in general. Sounds sort of gritty with no mids. I wont bash Fender for trying something new though. Im glad they did this and others seem interested in getting one so that’s cool.

Did no one pay any attention to what he said before he started playing? Hahaha “I have no control over myself. I’m at my best when I just try to let go...”. I would be upset if he played a pristine and perfectly timed piece after saying something like that. 100,000% down with this video. Go Flea.

Also, Fender doesn’t need to market. Not only do their instruments sell themselves, there will be others who do demos in whatever style they please.
