Another Shooting

from what I read, there were a rash of recent break-ins in the neighborhood.
Being suspicious of a stranger is stereotyping? I consider it being prudent. especially for a "neighborhood watch" guy on patrol.

It was dark, raining and the 17 year old had a hood covering his head.
Did the shooter confirm that he knew the kid was black before he confronted him?
would it even matter?

Why do people jump in asking questions that have been answered days ago? Please read the info available, which won't take very long, actually, before asking these questions.

Ya Know....... even though this event is a tragedy, the thing that I find interesting is the amount of public attention and outcry it has garnered.
I can reference many recent cases that people are not nearly as upset about (or even know about).
Race seems to always be brought to the forefront when the victim is black, ever notice that?
Sheeple are so easily led by the media. Logic and reason are then cast aside in favor of an emotional response.
Now, like I said, I believe this to be a true tragedy, but from what I gathered, it ain't no hate crime.
The shooter was trying to protect his neighborhood, things got out of hand and went to a bad place.

You folks keep trying to be "objective" in this case when there is no "objectivity" in this case. The more facts that come out the more it becomes clear except to the blind, ignorant or stupid that:
A-This was a murder that was TOTALLY avoidable and TOTALLY unjustifiable.
B-Race was a factor in this shooting.
C-A man had a license to carrty a firearm who should NEVER have been given one.
D-This man although he made a mistake, should pay for his mistake with every single ounce of justice that the law can throw at him. No ifs, ands, buts or maybes.

A similar statement could be made wrt Natalie Holloway, Stacey English and Phoenix Coldon (feel free to google the ones you don't immediately recognize)
In either case, it doesn't make the issue more or less pertinent. The circumstances of Trayvon Martin's killing are remarkable regardless of the race of the victim or the perpetrator. But the race of the victim was central to the actions of the perpetrator.

Not only that .. but as far as when the victim is black.. that is just BS. Sorry this guy needs to read more and check his history. Does anyone recall the Central Park Jogger case? How about the Stewart case in Mass? The other Central park case.. I forgot the name of it... but the killer was a young white guy .. so was the victim .. but my point is that the case received national coverage. LuLu Lemon? Same deal... The thing that makes this case so different is that there is so much evidence to support a totally unnecessary shooting and at best ineptness on a monumental scale by the law enforcement officers charged with investigating the crime.. The S.P.D. brings shame to every police force in the country with the way they handled this, but fortunately there are still law enforcement units out here.

ABC New reported that the neighborhood watch program that Zimmerman supposedly volunteered for was not registered. The Martin family lawyer noted that Trayvon Martin's body was tested for drugs while Zimmerman was not given a drug test of any kind.

As I said before, we cannont prove a negative, but to me it really looks like Sanford did not seriously investigate this killing, and the hold your ground law has been used as a smoke screen to justify doing nothing.

I think the convenening of the Seminole County grand jury is too little too late to cover their negligence.

I disagree about too late .. better late than never.. but I do agree that a lot of crucial evidence has been irrevocably lost because of the INEPTNESS of the S.P.D. I started to post last night wondering about the drug test. Now why would they test the victim and not the shooter unless they were trying to find evidence to support the claims of the shooter? So far in this case the facts seem to be what they are and what many knew from the beginning.... f*****g c**n ... really? Oh .. yeah but.." he was just protecting his neighborhood "... uhhh "How do we know he even knew he was black? " "If he wasn't doing anthing why did he run?" "Yeah but nobody talks about the other crimes that happen to other people.."

You know what .. some of the people in this thread need to take a long look in the mirror ... just take the blinders off before you do so you can get a good look.

I have read every post on this thread, and while there have been disagreements and heated debate it has been civil. While I agree with everything you said in this post, the racial slur is really uncalled for.

No it would not given the context ... I think you are grasping at straws .. However .. since some of you are so ..... offended by the post ... I will edit it yet again.. but I see two different scenarios.

I am offended by the folks who keep on trying to make excuses for this man or who keep on bringing up other incidents, as if they were all related and of course black folks as a group are a monolitic block that are responsible for everything that any of us do .. oh and by the way .. we also have the liberal media in our pockets.... as if Trayvon Martin and his family deserve to pay for crimes committed by others because they look like them.. I am offended by the repeated ignoring of the clear facets of this case as shown by the actions of the local law enforcement in the tampering of witnesses and attempting to give this man any excuse for murder they can .. like administering a drug test on the victim and not the shooter... , the 911 tapes that get more damning by the day, the earwitness testimony, the testimony of those who were basically ignored because their version of what they heard did not coincide with what the shooter said.. and all that in the context of... had this boy not been black he'd probably be alive, and if he had been shot the investigation would have been more in accordance with SOP .. so ... I'll edit my post.. and you can go right on being offended by it if you like.. but as I said .. some of you need to take a long look in the mirror and honestly ask yourselves where these things are coming from in this case and if you may perhaps need a heart check.
