I own one of these, maybe not a jazz bass in the strict sense, but the pickups and sound are certainly very jazz-y to me.

If this isn't badass then I don't know. Unknown body, unknown neck, unknown Mudbucker, unknown bridge.
Wilkinson tuners and volume only. Got it for free from the son of my best friend, action was a mile high and it was littered with stickers. After cleaning and setup it actually plays like butter and sound is OK too. But it weighs a ton...View attachment 2802366

Bass modsMost jazz basses I see (regardless whether Fender or not) seem to either have a classic look (sunburst, black, white, tort etc.) or a boutique look (no pickguard, table top with fancy woods etc.).
I therefore wonder whether any really bada** looking ones are around, for example like Dusty Hill's basses compared to a regular P bass.

Looks like a slab of raw steak! Yummy!!
What can you tell us about it?. I’ve never heard of the guy or his bass.
Not the best photos in the world.................... One piece Warmoth ash body with black stain and open grain finish. Allparts neck. Thin one ply white guard Eight pound range. Kind of has a "cowboy" vibe to it or an Eric Clapton "Blackie" Jazz Bass.

It was in the 1997-98 Fender Japan catalog. I found out about it after getting a Noel Redding Jazz. It took 18 years but I finally found on for sale on the Yahoo Japan site and used From Japan to purchase and ship it. I'm glad I got it when I did due to the CITES regulations.
He is big in Japan. Was featured in Bass Player Magazine in the 1990's. He endorses Sugi basses now.
You know, i was just wondering if any punk players rocked a jazz
Maybe it's just me but it's beyond imagining to me the skill a luthier requires to build a bass like that. Exactly how does one go about calculating exact bridge angle needed, each fret placement/angle, etc. to keep everything in proper intonation
